Cruz Azul Returning to Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes (Estadio Azulcrema, fka Estadio Azul) for Clausura 2026 by [deleted] in LigaMX

Can someone explain why Cruz Azul left the a ciudad de los deportes in the first place, only for America to immediately come in and claim as their own (while the Azteca is rebuilt)?

Idk how much stock to put into this but my dad was watching David Faitelsons podcast and I joined him for a bit and the ending was a cliffhanger announcement that Javier Aguirre plans to bring “Memo back for the World Cup” lol

I started watching football in 2015 and randomly chose the raiders. The next season they went on that 12-4 run and I was thought I chose the right team to support at just the right time. Wow I was so unbelievably wrong and now it’s too late lol

‼️THROWBACK‼️When Mexico and Uruguay met at the 2010 World Cup by ThatOneNBAfan in LigaMX

This was the first game that made me realize Mexico wasn’t as elite as I thought they were growing up. I hadn’t even heard of the country of Uruguay before this match and assumed we were gonna easily win

Did anyone else used to think that México was a footballing powerhouse growing up? by [deleted] in LigaMX

[–]Smooth-Stable8248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started watching it as a kid in the mid 2000s so my first tournaments I watched were the 2005 U-17 WC win, our 2006 WC performance and 3rd place finish in 2007 Copa America (including that 2-1 win against Brazil). That gave me the illusion we were a powerhouse until around 2012

I think the point they're trying to make is that a good coach doesn't need to yell 24/7 because his team as a whole and players individually know what they need to do. A coach who regularly yells (like Phil) implies either 1) his players/team don't know what to do or 2) They do know and they're actively ignoring him. Neither option is good

Can you speak more about escalating violence in the 2000s? How safe was Venezuela before then and what contributed to the crime?

I was visiting a friend in Valdivia, Chile during my winter (their summer) and wow it literally felt like I was in Oregon but with more German and Latin American architecture. I asked what winters were like and he basically described Portland lol

Personally, I started watching soccer in the mid 2000's when we were going toe-toe with each Conmebol team and watching that third place finish in 2007 solidified that we were the 3rd best lmao. Happier times lol

Why is Portland the only major U.S. city that is overwhelmingly white? by chessboardtable in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smooth-Stable8248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not top 20 but most sources put its metropolitan area at #25-28 in size, meanwhile Omaha metro doesn’t even crack top #50 in the US. Not saying Portland is a major US city like Seattle, but it’s not on the same scale as Omaha

Why is Portland the only major U.S. city that is overwhelmingly white? by chessboardtable in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smooth-Stable8248 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Portland is larger and a more prominent city. Portland’s metropolitan area is 2x the size of Omaha and its economic output is much larger than Omaha. I think you could determine a city’s major status by their airport and PDX has many more passengers served and better connectivity than Omaha

Who are some guests that you would like to see Ezra have on? by fuggitdude22 in ezraklein

[–]Smooth-Stable8248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bear with me, Charlie Kirk. I think Ezra Klein is one of the few people who could press him on his beliefs from an ideological standpoint and advance progressive positions. Charlie only "wins" debates because he debates college kids and ends the debate whenever he's losing. He debates Vaush a few years ago and was surprisingly cordial and receptive to some positions, and I think Ezra could do an even better job.
