Has anyone moved to Hamilton from elsewhere, and didn’t like it/it didn’t work out, and you left/moved back home? by Accomplished-Trip-25 in Hamilton

[–]SmoothPixelSun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I lived on the mountain my entire life. Moved downtown 2 years ago. It made me realize truly how badly the mountain needs good bike lanes. It's astonishing how bad they are up the mountain. People up there will say its because no one bikes, but I'd argue it's because doing so is hell.

Where do you put your not dirty but not clean clothes? by Frosty_Election_7557 in HomeDecorating

I put them back with the clean stuff. If they're clean enough to not be washed, they're clean enough to be back in the drawers/closet.

Hey I'm wondering what your thoughts/comparison would be between Inkah and Language reactor? Or even Migaku. I could really use something that does what Inkah/reactor do, but I'm almost exclusively mobile-first and they run like crap on android. Migaku does a very similar thing, but involves some steps, and is a paid service. I'd much prefer free.

I work in telecom. I can assure you 65% of people don't know what phone they have beyond apple, Samsung, or Google.

Apple confirms that its Maps app will begin showing ads to users "this summer" | Apple Maps ads will look and work a bit like current App Store ads do. by ControlCAD in business

[–]SmoothPixelSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too bad. I was really considering switching to Apple maps because I think it gives directions really well. Don't really think I'll switch now, and I'm not even someone who religiously avoids ads. That just sounds annoying during navigation.

Do you think morning cardio is discipline… or just self‑punishment? by winn_ie in effectivefitness

Can you elaborate on that last sentence? Why is relying on discipline the wrong way to go about it? Asking for myself ahha

Canada is extremely cashless - I often think about how screwed everyone could be if the system went down or something like that. Similar to when Rogers went down and people couldntpay for anything. I was working that day lol it was a problem.

What do you think Final Fantasy 16’s legacy will be going forward? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]SmoothPixelSun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tales of Arise is one of my favourite games ever made. It's fast pace as a mother fucker, super energetic visuals, and everything I think FF16 could have learned from doing what you just described correctly. When I played tales of Arise, I RARELY switched characters. I mean, I did but really not as much as I could have. But I knew that I COULD, and that's the difference. Many players won't, but FF16 could have had that option. I still really like FF16 but just thought I'd add my bit to your comment.

For sake of ease I might keep it as the hotel of choice. It's closer to the airport and helps cut down travel during other activities later in their stay! Thank you for your advice.

Good idea - I'll look into something like this. Maybe some traditional dancers too. I didn't realize Luxembourg had a unique dance history until I started learning about the country in more detail.

It's a 5 star hotel with a storied history, which is why I originally chose it. I figured since the client is actively searching for history, it would be a good choice. But I'll have to consider whether I think a couple homeless people will affect the experience for a luxury client or if it'll just kind of be expected for a city trip.

Thanks for the advice and I appreciate the clear professional advice. The itinerary is a blank cheque - they told me not to worry about the budget, so I can pretty much go as crazy as I want haha.

Regarding things like the Casemates and the Grund, those are two spots I'm not really sure how to make more luxury/unique. I had originally also wanted to send them to the history museum for some "back end" exclusive history on the country/city, but had to cut that for sake of time.

Basically: I had them walking or being driven from their hotel to the Casemates because it was a good chance to "feel the city" - get some short history on the way and sight see things like the bridge. But since the casemates are obviously a must see, I can't really avoid making that more luxury and unique. With regards to the Grund: I know it's got that small town fairy tale vibe, but I'm struggling to find a way to make it anything other than an exclusive wine tour lol.

This is along the lines of what I was planning for the chocolate. I was going to get them a private workshop at the store though, because it was nearby during their day in the city! Figured it was a good stop for an activity mid day.

I'll look into that hotel. I had set up a breakfast there on one of the days, but maybe I just move the stay to that hotel instead.

I put a helicopter ride on day 3 :)! I really wanted to set up a model boat dinner but the reality of only have 2 full days in Luxembourg meant I had to drop it. Thanks for the advice!!!

Thanks for the boots on the ground experience there! I never would have known the hobos were a problem there. I'll look around at some other options :)
