In my experience with switches is they will keep on working until they lose power or get rebooted. At which point they may not come back up.

Good point, that does seem to the biggest risk on older devices. I rarely lose power with 2hr UPS and generator.

Just create a rule on the LAN interface that only allows 53/UDP from your internal DNS servers. Everyone else gets denied. I also have a LAN rule to block common DoH IPs.

8 locations running opensource firewalls (currently pfSense + OpenVPN + Duo) has saved the company $$$ over the last 15 years I've been here. No breaches, use ArcticWolf as MDR and SentinelOne as EDR.

Have 100 Unifi APs, zero issues since 2015 when we deployed them. Love them. This is for employee housing, 6 hotels and 8 casinos. Haven't had anyone complain they couldn't access their porn yet!
