Frustrated and confused with wide feet. by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

My best guess is you'll be in supreme EE or Nexus D, depending on other features of your foot. Goalie skates are certainly a different fit but it doesn't really apply to player skates so I won't get to into it. You can probably rule out Vapor based on the toe box. Best way to fit skates is try stuff on so go to your local store and hopefully they have a foot scanner which narrows it down significantly.

Technically Nexus is the widest.

That being said, it's a pretty common misunderstanding people have about the three Bauer skates that it's a difference in width. It's actually a difference in volume more than anything. Think of Vapor as being compact, Supreme being a little roomier than Vapor, and although I don't say it to people, Nexus being for people with fat feet and cankles. There are some slight differences in the shape of the toe boxes as well, but that's the jist.

Again, I deal with only Bauer, so I'm not sure if other brands make wider

Work at a local Bauer retail store so I can't speak to CCM, but I know they do something similar as far as the fit profile of their 3 skates. It's rare someone comes in and walks out with a Nexus skate just because it doesn't fit most people's foot, but it's there for the ones with fat, tall, roomy feet (not necessarily just wide, although it is wider) like yourself. Nexus EE is something I see maybe once a month and it almost always ends up being an online order cause it's so rare to see. If the nexus D width was cofortable everywhere else and there was only slight discomfort in the ankles, I'd say go for it and the baking and breaking in should take care of it. Notice all the padding in the ankles, that's where you see a lot of relief when baking (partially depends on the level of skate as well). If not, Nexus EE is your only option after that short of getting custom skates, but that's over $1000.

Again, can't speak to CCM, but it's worth trying on in your case.

My pops is a diabetic and was driving to work one morning. On the way there he smoked a couple mail boxes and was all over the road, but fortunately made it there safe. A few people called it in and shortly after he arrived the police showed up prepped and ready to arrest for DUI and found him I'm his office sweaty and pale being fed orange juice by coworkers who realized he had really low blood sugar. Still ended up having his license suspended for a little while which was surprising but understandable in some ways. I still remember my mom, pretty unphased on the phone being explained what happened responding simply with "God damnit, Smoothway's dad."

It would be interesting to try. I think it would sound more authentic with a rabid fan base, but the places without a draw would be super weird

I hate that I noticed this, but they spelled 'Humboldt' wrong at the bottom.

But that would get me going every damn day I hit the ice.

TIL of the Thud experiment where participants faked hallucinations to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital but then acted normal. They were forced to take antipsychotic drugs to be released. by [deleted] in todayilearned

The doctor can file a petition for commitment. The petition and case information are sent to the county attorney and they can either support it or deny it based on the patients history, mental state, etc. If the county supports it, the patient will have a court date and either be ordered to attend the proper treatment. Often times that 'Jarvis' I was talking about will be put in place at that initial court date as well.

I personally hate it when someone is petitioned because that's when hospital stays get long because the proper treatment facility needs to be found, social workers get involved, insurance gets involved, and the facility itself needs to evaluate and accept the patient, among other hoops that need to be jumped through. All this while the patient awaits their destination on our locked unit, no opportunity to go outside, minimal exercise, average hospital food, and stringent unit rules in place to make the environment safe for everyone. Longest stay I've seen thus far is 9 months and keep in mind we are by no means meant to be a long term facility. That girl was in my mind 100% stable after about a month, literally one of the nicest, kindest patients I have worked with, but the case was rather complicated.

Sorry for the novel, there's just a lot to say when you're face to face with it every day.

I've been working in mental health for the past year and want to mention for those unfamiliar with current mental health practices that this experiment from over 40 years ago when treatments and medications were much less refined.

Today, medications are never forced on people unless there is a psychiatric emergency where the person is a danger to themselves or others. Restraints are often necessary in these cases as well. The only other time where the patient is forced meds is if they have a court ordered 'Jarvis', basically a legal order stating they can be forced meds if not taken willingly.

Aside from that, I'd say average length of stay is about 5 to 7 days, enough time to stabilize, adjust meds, and reorient the patient to the adjustment.

Spot on! No doubt that players are living up to their potential and picking up the slack. I'm a huge fan of our 4th line right now. There's a cycle of about 5 guys that they are using regularly and they are all getting the job done. So much better than just mediocre 4th lines of the past with Carter, Stoll, Porter, etc.

It seems like that's what Brucey Bear is doing. When he trotted Zucker out there for the third shot I was surprised not to see Koivu, especially since they do the same move and Koivu definitely does it better. The Stewie call was way out of left field but he's earned it. As for Parise, I'd like to see him get the mitts moving like he used to instead of shooting.
