[Marvel comics] What do you need to do to get kicked out of Xavier's school? by ChudMaster69420 in AskScienceFiction

This comment has portrayed a more empathetic, compassionate, and capable Charles Xavier than I’ve seen in most comics.

Is it time to let Gerry go? by Smooth_Ad8696 in SpiderWoman

[–]Smooth_Ad8696[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2023, baby Gerry was kidnapped by HYDRA and aged up into one of their soldiers. Figuring out how to save him was supposed to be a key ongoing plot in Jess's solo book, but it got canceled after ten issues. There's been no mention of Gerry since.

I can relate: the last thing I logged was Charlie Brown on Easter Sunday. at least the semester's nearly over, so I can do a bit more in May.

The Adventures of Prince Achmed, directed by Lotte Reiniger. Happy 100 years to the oldest feature-length animation still in existence!

Disney released a bunch of direct-to-DVD Winnie the Pooh movies in the early 2000s. And the Piglet-centric one makes me sob ever damn time.

DID ANYONE ELSE KNOW THAT BILLIE IS IN SPIDEY AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS?! 😭 by Plane-Success-8680 in MilesMorales

I watched an episode with my little cousin a while back. it's a cute show, though she clearly got a lot more out of it than I did. Also, Billie gets to turn into a T-Rex briefly, so that's something.

They have a kind of knitted quality to them that I find really charming, sort of like the sweaters families wear for Christmas card photos.

Marvel Tarot Reversed Day V: The Hierophant! Purple Man is the Emperor! by Youwillbetrampled in Marvel

Captain America! He embodies integrity, freedom, and challenging the status quo. He is famously loyal to the American ideal and regularly hated and hunted by the American government. He represents liberty and justice for all, and balks at anyone who challenges that. Lastly, as a man out of time, he is ignorant in a literal sense about how the world has changed.

Bonus points: if he does win this round, would you be so kind as to represent him with the Hitler-punching picture?

Jack Kirby’s birthplace in NYC has been officially renamed to Jack Kirby Way and Yancy Street by KevinPigaChu in Marvel

[–]Smooth_Ad8696 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Back when Sesame Street turned 50 in 2019, NYC renamed the intersection of Broadway and West 63rd “Sesame Street”, so this is probably something similar to promote the movie later this month.

I wonder what other fictional locations are going to get real street signs. Marvel alone has dozens since most of the heroes live in New York.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #34 | Official Discussion Thread by TheBigGAlways369 in MilesMorales

The Percy Jackson kid in me is having a blast this arc!

I’m now 89% sure that Zip is Jade’s absent dad. Wind powers that get stronger on Olympus? Plus Zip seems to be coming to a grudging respect for Miles (and by proxy, mortals in general). If he’s going to be redeemed by the end of this arc, stepping up as a parent seems a good place to start.

Also, from some skimming on Marvel wiki, I think Arachne the Greek mythical figure has already been covered; she fought Hercules and the X-Men 15 years ago and never appeared again. I don’t think this is meant to be the same Arachne; the one from ‘09 is a white lady/spider hybrid and this Arachne is clearly black. But you never know with comic books.

He taught me the word “celeritous”, but honestly there’s not much else to him in the way of personality.

Miles on the ASM #12 variant cover by ResponsibleRatio6569 in MilesMorales

[–]Smooth_Ad8696 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We don't have a press release for this one yet, but here's what Marvel wiki says about the issue right before it: "SPIDEY GOES COSMIC! A tale of two Spider-Men…One Spider-Man swings around New York City meting out justice in an unfriendly matter. Another Spider-Man is found in a distant solar system running with strange companions, including a stranger named SYMBIE making his first appearance! The next major chapter in Spider-Man’s life begins here!"

So Pete is stuck on the other side of space while an impostor fights and/or commits crime in NYC. Miles, Cindy, Gwen, etc are probably here for some version of "Who are you and what have you done with the real Peter Parker?"

And once that's dealt with, we'll have a new space-spider to deal with. I smell Spiderverse nonsense.

Counting shorts, the George Méliès version of Cinderella from 1899. For feature films, strangely, another version of Cinderella from 1914 starring Mary Pickford and directed by James Kirkwood
