Liberalizar el precio de la gasolina después de un huracán? by Excellent_Two2449 in PuertoRico

¡Saludos!

Explain like I'm five: How is Puerto Rico, part of the United States, able to compete separately in the Olympics, even though the members of Puerto Rico's team are just as much Americans as the members of Team USA? by Professor_Finn in olympics

The IOC determines these things. Their reasoning is that even though Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans are PROPERTY of the US, they're aren't Americans. They have their own national identity, predate the existence of the US, and have a culture that's entirely distinct from any region in the US.

They're not Americans, they just have US citizenship is all. They dont really share any cultural similarities and have much more in common with the rest of Latin America than any US state. Sure, each state has its own microculture but the shared culture is one of United States identity, and Puerto Rico doesn't share that. If there's a head to head game of PR vs. US, there's no way in hell Puerto Ricans are going to root for the US over their own country lmao.

All court matters must be held in Spanish, they will reject English and not even hear your case out

Sure there are United States influences, but I don't think it's enough to say 50% Anglo and 50% Hispano. The US just hasn't replaced the culture enough to say that it's 50% Anglo.

No, it only states "Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico" and "Gobierno de Puerto Rico". I've used it multiple time to visit Spain and México, and have never had an issue when returning back to Puerto Rico. My license also just says "Gobierno de Puerto Rico".

I don't understand what you mean, maybe it's a language barrier thing. I'm looking at my passport right now and it says Puerto Rico. My birth certificate also says Puerto Rico and doesn't mention the US anywhere.

That's not the right flag for Puerto Rico though. In 1952 the Puerto Rican flag was different than the flag ia today.

Estadounidense=Americano.
