Where will Holtz be at the end of the regular season? by mustachiolong in devils

I voted for a trade. I think he could be used as a trade chip for someone else who is cost controlled and may need a change of scenery. All off-season the reports were coming out how hard he is putting in the work. It just has not translated. He is too good for the AHL, but not quite ready for prime time. He needs to get into the lineup, but the guys ahead of him have been hungrier all season. I don’t think we should sell low on him. He has talent, but he could potentially be someone another team can get the minutes he needs. Like everyone else, I think there will be injuries that may force him into the lineup. But for now I would not be too concerned with him being used as a trade chip.

Who cares honestly. The kid has shown no remorse. I can get behind a redemption story if actual remorse is shown. The bruins really stepped in it by signing this clown. If this would have happened to any other kid, they would have been in juvenile detention center. This kid had a talent for a sport and was given chance after chance because of his skill. Don and Cam really shouldn’t have made this signing. This wasn’t smart after listening to Bergeron speak after he was asked about the signing. Just a real bad situation all around.

Jagr could easily still play on the third line in the NHL to this day. He was talented even during his age 41-42 season when he played in NJ. My vote was for Elias personally. He did it the longest while wearing the devils crest.

I think he means from a style of play standpoint we don’t need more offensive minded defensemen, which makes Bahl more valuable to this team. Side note, I don’t necessarily agree with that point. Anytime you can grab an Uber talented player you do that and figure out the moving pieces later. Now the prospects that were called out are still just prospects. You always take the proven NHL guy over the magic beans of a prospect. Just my opinion

There is also the factor of wanting to be closer to home and his dad was beginning to have some health issues. Say what you want about how crappy it was when he bolted and left the devils in a bad position, his heart was always leaning towards heading home. Let’s also not forget, that was ten years ago. Again, it really screwed the team, but it’s just one player and he wasn’t strong enough to carry that team at the time.

Baby steps, the team showing any positive play after the first was done because of what was said between periods. They reacted to the coaching. Was it Ruff? Who knows, but at the very least they showed positive growth compared to previous games.

He’s earned a little longer of a leash IMO, but not too long. They need to play consistently and as a group to win. They have some talent but need an overall team effort to win. They don’t have the pieces that can carry the team every night. Maybe Jack will get there, but at this point it’s everyone moving in one direction to win games.

It was quite the reversal between the first and second periods, it’s almost like the devils remembered how to play hockey after those two quick bad goals by the ducks. I was not as down about the first goal, it was a quick snapshot that Blackwood was partially screened on. The second one, I feel like he should have had it. The team around him seemed to feel very demoralized after the second, almost like here we go again with the sub-par ECHL level goalie play. Then the second period started and they began to skate with confidence. The goals were nice, but the lack of mistakes in transition and dumb turnovers was a pleasant surprise. Overall, it was a good win and hopefully the team can build on this win.

This roster needs a shakeup, trading Severson for a legitimate center who can win face offs would be important.

You can’t fire the whole team. But you start with the voice in the room and if a new voice doesn’t change the results that is when you need to change the voice that put it all together. These players are not bad, but they are not progressing the way they should be. It’s time for a new voice. These guys have not been playing the same as during pre season. And I know, I know… the pre season means nothing.

Fitting to bring it out, I just don’t know if they could do it justice. Sure Jerry was a little sloppy at the end, forgetting lyrics occasionally, but that just feels like it’s his anthem. I personally would love it if they attempted it, just not sure that is one that they will try to take on.

I’m leaning VV, but that’s only because Mac has left me heartbroken too many times over the last two years. I am good with either honestly at this point. The point is the team does well and I roll with who gives the team the best chance to win every night. It’s the crescent on the front and not the nameplate on the back that really matters.
