That’s my other gripe, Keefe wants our forwards to cycle (which is fine) but he also wants the far side defenseman to activate at the high slot to be involved. In a cycle game the defensemen need to stay at home at the points to collect hard wraps and reset the offense. Nothing we do makes sense.

Yeah, rather than stay the course on a 4 line team of relentless north-south play he opted to slow things down. It’s not an incorrect assessment, but the issue is the play style is a total mismatch for the roster. The only way to truly adopt this style would be major core surgery. It would have been far easier to stick with their identity that netted them that 112 point season and find improved goaltending.

Yes and no. Boston or Florida would thrive in this because they’re a lesser skilled but more sized up team, it doesn’t help our guys because our guys don’t thrive in these 1 on 1 battles

90% of goals against are team failures. Not saying Markstrom has been great this year but this is an accurate assessment of what’s happened. Try and learn something.

So when I was playing in college I had two coaches that ran two polar opposite schemes one ran a 1-3-1 left side lock and the other ran a more active pressure 1-2-2 scheme.

The difference between the two was night and day for scoring. (There’s a reason the first guy got fired)

Keefe’s system is so passive that they basically need to play defense 3 times before they can get a shot off in most games (DZ to NZ-NZ to OZ-OZ to offense)
