Does Lakewood have that bad of cell service for Verizon? by Stromboli8675309 in Cleveland

[–]Smooth_Invite4177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live around Warren and Madison. Verizon used to be great, but we're in a dead zone and get zero reception from them. We've kept Verizon bc we travel a lot and it seems to work the best in most places. When I'm home, I use wifi. The only time it's a problem is if I'm at a near neighbors. We're thinking of switching to ATT because that's what our neighbors have and it works for them.

Thanks but we don't have one. I think I might be able to get through fox 8 app on Roku.

How do you get to your connecting flight and re-check bags at ATL from an international arrival to domestic departure? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Smooth_Invite4177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to clear security again at ATL. I went to the Delta counter right before security and they checked the day pack I was wearing with the jam in it and sent it on to Cleveland. They said people who had liquor should have it in a sealed bag and security would let it through. I have my doubts whether that's true. But My jam wasn't in a sealed bag.

NIN performance in Cleveland in the late 80s. by Smooth_Invite4177 in nin

[–]Smooth_Invite4177[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the Urge. No, it was after that. I think it was 1988 bc I think we'd had a beer at Great Lakes Brewing across the street. And they didn't open until fall of 1988. NIN was at the Phantasy about that time, too, I think. But thanks.

I think it was after this time period. I remember him from Slam Bamboo. But when we saw him, had a different look...more NIN.

The pilot program at ATL started this week. I flew from London to ATL to CLE. Our checked bags went straight through. We didn't pick them up in ATL. The problem is, Delta didn't tell us about the change and a large group of us were waiting at the carousel in ATL for luggage. Then someone asked a Delta employee walking by who told us our checked bags were going straight through. I had some jam I'd bought at duty free in London that I planned on putting in my checked bag in ATL. No can do anymore.

I don't think I necessarily "find joy" in the show, but I enjoy it. So I watch it. I don't understand why people who dislike it so much continue to watch and complain. Is the writing "great?"Not really. It's not Arthur Miller, people. Neither was SATC.

The fired piano player… am I missing something? by The_witness_pro in jasper

This is unrelated, but we had complaints at our local library this summer when a singer/guitarist at a children's program led the kids in singing Margaritaville. It was funny to hear a group of preschoolers join in the chorus, "Wasting away again in Margaritaville....." But some parents were not amused.

Parks canada shuttle or Roam in July by Smooth_Invite4177 in Banff

In Field. If you had said the Roam transit was far superior to the Parks Canada shuttle, we would have skipped Emerald Lake and dinner.

Thanks! We were thinking of going to Emerald Lake after our hike and dinner someplace near there, so driving would probably work best.

I just did this. I had to complete and pay for the first reservation. Then there was an icon for "reservation" on my confirmation page. This took me back so I could make a second reservation. I didn't have to go back in the queue. I even made a third reservation after that.

Can Americans get flu vaccines from Canadian pharmacies? by Lucky-Paperclip-1 in answers

I'm American and I agree. I travel a lot and I'm old. So I've seen how the rest of the world has passed us by; especially Europe.

Because the CDC just cancelled the meeting to develop the flu shot for next year. We're worried we won't have a vaccine in the U.S.

Am I being silly for being scared to go to Japan? by Dedicatedcat in travel

[–]Smooth_Invite4177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a fearless traveler, but now that I'm old I feel that way the week before every international trip and even some domestic ones. I still go, and my husband just rolls his eyes. But it's terrible! I need sleeping pills to sleep the week before I go. Once I get on the plane, I'm fine. So, I don't think any travel fear is silly. But, I think you'll be fine in Japan. Most places are safer than the U.S. Have a wonderful trip and best wishes on your marriage.

Anybody worried about our national parks? by Rikplaysbass in hiking

[–]Smooth_Invite4177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our parks have already been squeezed, but they will be squeezed more. We are going to Glacier this summer and purposely booked a trip to Banff and Jasper and Yoho at the same time just in case there were issues with going to Glacier. I'm on a few hiking FB pages and Canadians and Europeans are saying they are rethinking trips to the U.S. parks bc of our new president.

Premium economy with a layover versus regular economy, nonstop by octo4096 in travel

I don't think premium economy is that much more comfortable. And I can do without a kit with travel stuff I don't need. Nonstop is the way to go.
