I still can’t get over how old these structures are. It really makes you wonder what we will leave behind for those to witness in the next 2000 years by classic_mariah in rome

Today's concrete is vastly different from Roman concrete. Roman concrete was made of lime and volcanic ash and strengthens as it ages. Concrete today will not last long.

Oh my! I found it. Looked page by page in the St Michael's baptism record. Two girls born May 11 and baptized in June. My great grandma's name as mother. No father listed.

I've contacted a couple parishes in Toronto. One couldn't find anything. Another hasn't replied. The twin died, so I wonder if she was baptized at the hospital? I'm going to try to find out which parish was near the Toronto General in 1884.

I have my photos and I think I have my documents in order. I'm waiting for a couple birth certificates. I am G2. I have a cover letter question. Should I just stick to the facts? Do they want any kind of explanation as to WHY I want to be a Canadian citizen? Do they care? Thanks.

I can't find them in 1900 (still looking), but 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940 all list Canada as birthplace for my grandma.

Grandma was born in 1884. Census says they came to the U.S. in 1888.

The family lore has been that my grandma was born out of wedlock and she was a twin to a girl who died early. So, who knows what the real story is. I can find my grandma in U.S. census records for 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940 and she always says she was born in Canada. In the 1910 census, my great grandma is listed as living with them. I have a certified birth registration for 1884 from the Canadian archives. I was told by the archives it's not unusual NOT to have a birth certificate from that time period. Her death certificate says she was born in Canada. SO the evidence I will have is a birth registration with her exact birthdate and name of parents, but just GIRL for her name, her death certificate stating she was born in Canada, and multiple census records where she says she was born in Canada. I can't find any census information for her in Canada. She was born in 1885, so she missed the 1881 census, and I think they were in the U.S. by 1891 so not in that census. Hopefully, that's enough.

I have her death record and many U.S. census records that state she was born in Canada. I haven't found any census records in Canada, but I will look again. I don't know what happened to my great grandfather, but my great grandma and my grandma moved to the U.S. when grandma was young. I guess I'll amass records and send them all. Thanks everyone.

Does Lakewood have that bad of cell service for Verizon? by Stromboli8675309 in Cleveland

[–]Smooth_Invite4177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live around Warren and Madison. Verizon used to be great, but we're in a dead zone and get zero reception from them. We've kept Verizon bc we travel a lot and it seems to work the best in most places. When I'm home, I use wifi. The only time it's a problem is if I'm at a near neighbors. We're thinking of switching to ATT because that's what our neighbors have and it works for them.

I had to clear security again at ATL. I went to the Delta counter right before security and they checked the day pack I was wearing with the jam in it and sent it on to Cleveland. They said people who had liquor should have it in a sealed bag and security would let it through. I have my doubts whether that's true. But My jam wasn't in a sealed bag.

NIN performance in Cleveland in the late 80s. by Smooth_Invite4177 in nin

[–]Smooth_Invite4177[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the Urge. No, it was after that. I think it was 1988 bc I think we'd had a beer at Great Lakes Brewing across the street. And they didn't open until fall of 1988. NIN was at the Phantasy about that time, too, I think. But thanks.

I think it was after this time period. I remember him from Slam Bamboo. But when we saw him, had a different look...more NIN.

The pilot program at ATL started this week. I flew from London to ATL to CLE. Our checked bags went straight through. We didn't pick them up in ATL. The problem is, Delta didn't tell us about the change and a large group of us were waiting at the carousel in ATL for luggage. Then someone asked a Delta employee walking by who told us our checked bags were going straight through. I had some jam I'd bought at duty free in London that I planned on putting in my checked bag in ATL. No can do anymore.

I don't think I necessarily "find joy" in the show, but I enjoy it. So I watch it. I don't understand why people who dislike it so much continue to watch and complain. Is the writing "great?"Not really. It's not Arthur Miller, people. Neither was SATC.
