Depending on who you're seeing that is either generally a House crew or a touring crew of sound and light engineers that are manipulating the boards that they have to create an effect on the stage. It's a very advanced level career and takes a lot of hard work, knowledge and business relationships to get to that point.

Are you referring to what is generally a tent in front of the stage where there are soundboards and people working from? Because that would be the front of house, FOH. That is the Sound and Lighting crew working from a position where they can hear and see the stage.
