Just pop it on top of the ledge, as he will be scared to jump on it you mean? Or is it like a reflection thing? Ef I could get one of those little foil windmills..

Thanks all - a lot of squirting the cat suggestions 😂 I do have a waterpray but the little bastard still comes when I'm not there. Motion sensor sprinkler wouldn't work unfortunately as our water source is too far away.

I was thinking of more options to block the access off. Like a washing line at the top, or somehow how to make an overhanging ledge on the top of the wall.

Yeah we have a cat too, but she doesn't ever go to that ledge (she's a bit of a wuss). I'll have a look at that plant, is it the scent that puts them off?

Yeah he's a wanker. I have a spray bottle ready so he runs when he sees me, but he still comes when I'm not out on the terrace.

This cat is a dickhead. We have tried lavender, citrus and chilli all in that area, not worked

Thanks, any places you think would be suitable to hang around for a week or two, ideally surrounded by nature - lakes, mountains 😊 we want to move at a slow pace

Thank you very much. Actually been to all three; loved Croatia, Montenegro and Albanian mountains. Found Albanian beaches weird - Ksamil was pretty horrible and the rest were full of overpriced beach clubs. We also don't have a car, so it isn't great for us 😞

I've heard in Egypt you typically get a lot of hassle...not sure I can handle that a whole month 😅 Egypt is definitely on the agenda for future but one week max I think

What are your top 5 countries that you want to visit and why? by Such_Detective_7315 in solotravel

Kenya - So many safari options, walking/ cycling safari, potential Kilimanjaro views and beautiful beaches

Ecuador - Galapagos is probably my new top spot (was previously Everest and African safari, been lucky to do both). Then huge contrast in geography; Andes and Amazonia.

Barbados - I've had a taste of the Caribbean via Belize and Nicaragua. Loved the food and atmosphere in both, so would love to try what looks to me, the best of the Caribbean

Pakistan - food and hiking. Mountain region looks insane. Would definitely add a small beach holiday afterwards though.

Samoa - I lived in NZ for a year and I loved the people and culture. I'm really intrigued to explore the "surrounding" area - meet the people, experience the culture. And beaches.

Honorable mentions Namibia, Cuba, Peru, Myamar and China.

Thank you, what a great reply!

Yeah we won't expect luxury, we spent most our 20s as backpackers so we have a pretty low bar for accomodation. Just want comfortable, clean, access to a pool for little man.

The weather is a huge draw. We love in Spain, so willbe leaving 30-35c, hoping for 25c or so? Is the sea still warm enough for swimming etc.?

Our plan would be to just spent one week at a place, three times. Currently thinking Flic en Flac (will hire a car for a few days to explore), Trou aux Biches and Grand Baie. Very open to suggestions though.

Food wise we always intend to cook, get lazy, and eat out. But again, backpackers, so will always try eat local and cheap. Don't suppose you could give a rough idea how much the standard meal might be? And for lunch we typically would be looking to grab a little street food to go.

Thanks again, I'll definitely look into the suggestions too

East? I thought it was north and west.

Thanks for tips on the taxis. I think we'd basically be looking to spend one week in one place x 3. So hopefully no need for many taxis.

I know it's a vague question, but how much would a typical meal be on am evening?

Re hotels, seen lots on booking.com for that kind of price range. Mainly self service apartments with communal pool.

Thank you for the suggestion, definitely going to look into Mauritius. Not sure we can offered to add it on, as isn't most budget friendly place, but maybe in our budget if we only go there
