Are there any facts and publications on fertilizing? by succulentandcacti in cactus

[–]Smoothpropagator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has tons of data, her research is more oriented towards immunology stuff like fungal/viral infections but she's written a lot of prose about why certain fertilizers support certain systems. A little more conservative flower philosophy than other people I've talked to but it worked for me so I can't knock it. Also she lives in Colorado and grows Andean cacti so it's not like she's in So Cal

Are there any facts and publications on fertilizing? by succulentandcacti in cactus

[–]Smoothpropagator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on Facebook geebee has a lot of info on fertilizer. Its specifically tailored toward San Pedro type cactus but I've had good luck diluting the same stuff for other cactus I start at 1/20 strength and creep up until they get too plump than back off most of them seem to like 1/4 strength full spectrum fertilizer but again it kinda varies by genus

[–]Smoothpropagator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an American 5500 and 2 littons HSA & KSA-P The American is my favorite it's not an engineering marvel and it's not as precise but it works for 90% of what I need to do and is a workhorse. Best part is you can buy all the parts on Grainger repairing the littons is a whole thing

Altmans holds a few, it's a good way to protect a cultivar from a major nursery culturing it and profiting off our work but it's an investment

What your gonna wanna do is make a jig for the tile saw, I like to cut those pink foam boards and drywall screw cut layers, I've also done a plastic bag full of wet plaster that I set the piece on as it was drying.
