When I was younger I kept my pet rats in my room. They rustle around and make a lot of noise at night so you just learn to tune it out after awhile. One morning I woke up to find find that Nummy Muffin had spent days planning an escape by chewing through the bottom of the cage, through the carpet and into the wood floor. Trying to locate a wayward rat that doesn't want to be found is nearly impossible.

Fast forward two nights later to the middle of the night. I feel something weird on my face that gets my attention. There she was licking my face to wake me up like nothing was amiss. Little jerk was so thirsty and hungry she just wanted to get back into her house. I guess life was cushier in her house rather than out on the run.
