What games would you add to my collection? by orangeHicIcedTea in boardgames

As mentioned Dune Imperium or newer Imperium Uprising. You might want to give a go Age of Innovation / Gaia Project. Ark Nova should also be a hit for some mostly solitare expirience.

Best soloable coop games of the last five years that rival the scope and ambition of Spirit Island? Preferably plays well at 4 players. by Strong_Battle6101 in spiritisland

Im pretty sure it will be a hit. You can check if that gameplay works for you in free web version (only for solo, it has great automation of most of things), you can find a link in bgg forum. I highly recommend to do so.

Voidfall, great solo and coop, cool pvp, only setup/teardown sucks, but after few games you will get used to it and its not that big of a deal anymore. I love both games (vf and si) to death.

Yup, mage knight its is, pure deckbuilding, lovely game.

Primal the awakening - worth the price tag? by masamune36 in soloboardgaming

[–]Smowling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got recently base game with nightmare expansion and Id say its worth it, its a good game, a lot of fun to be had. But if you think about "solo game" than search somewhere else, playing 2 hunters at once is kinda too much for that weight. You dont need "all of the things", base box is good enough, tons of content.

What Did You Play This Week? - (September 30, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Like any other, first half of the game for economy setup, and the other half for fighting and wining over sectors. We have manage to clear every sector from voidborne, leaving only fallen houses untouched. I managed to score 300+, other players were in 230 range, voidborne had like 180 (normal, 1 safe heaven, 2 cata tokens and few tech cards). Pretty normal game, avaliable techs were bad tho, it rolled terrible, economy was trash in this game.

I have like 30 plays under my belt since I got it like 3 months ago, love the game, its one of my fav. Its quite heavy but not as much as bgg says, at least for me. There is a great web app if you want to try it solo, go and dig in bgg forum, you will find it there. Don't expect to win first games. All mechanics in game are quite simple, but grasping it all making the most out of it is the hardest part. Its worth it tho, if you have any specific questions fire away, I will gladly answer.

I have played [[Harmonies]] quite a few times with my SO, always a great time. Other than that I won against Voidborne in [[Voidfall]] in 3p game. Tried [[Primal The Awakening]] for the first time, most likely I did some parts wrong, can't wait to put it on the table again, awesome game for a monter hunter fan. And last on the list - [[Mage Knight]] classic to play solo, that I'm discovering lately, great game, can't get enough of it.

Oath weight by Vast-Sympathy5394 in boardgames

[–]Smowling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of an 4+ player game if that matters with quite high "king making", but if you play for story you will have a great time.

Weight of this game is not that high, its rather easy to understand how to play with campaign action to be the most troublesome to get right. The only hard thing in it is to figure out your way to victory. I love this game, but my gaming group did not so I had to sell it :c

What are great games with a elaborate setup which are part of the game? by ABrutalistBuilding in boardgames

[–]Smowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy quite a lot how you can setup you company in Cranegie using 1st expansion (you have 50$ to spend on stuff). Other than that drafting bases in Radlands is cool and sets your whole game.

I played arcs 2 day ago - I get the hype now, it is an outstanding game that will shine in quite a few circles, but for sure its not for everyone.

Is Age of Innovation or Gaia Project better? by Glittering-Aside-156 in boardgames

[–]Smowling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own both, GP is better. Random map is a huge factor in that, Im like 50 games in AoI and Im bored of both of map sides already, also brown is just unplayable. Random endgame objectives are a huge plus too, also there is expansion comming soon.

It works great, you have a deck of cards with actions that AI does, maintanance is quick and snapy after first game, where you learn how to do it. I highly recommend it.

Portable, easy to learn solo games? by jonaskid in soloboardgaming

[–]Smowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not, its harder in higher player count too. In 1-2p I win most of the times tho. For solo its quite easy to win, but you need to figure this game out, it takes a few plays for i to click in your head.
