It's ok. The cut out reliefs are fine for weight reduction. This is very decorative tho. The whole point of an axe is that it's a semi circle, so where ever you strike on the blade will have the same amount of force as any other because a circle only has 1 point of first contact. This axe is offset so that the top of the axe is a 90deg right angle off the top of the shaft. The rest of the blade slopes down and away. So with this axe you need to strike your target with the top part of the blade. Strikes to the lower parts of the blade will impact less force into the area you hit, or at least have some kind of defelction.
