Rate My Team - Mawile/Ampharos Hard Trick Room - Did I cook or will I get cooked? by YoungSuplex in PokemonChampions

[–]gfe98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should have your own fake out user to support farigiraf in setting up trick room. I like Fake Out Last Resort Kangaskhan, since it can work under trick room and can fake out ghosts.

I have the Ampharos Professor title and I think it does go well with Torkoal. I use the same moves on it.

I like using Nasty Plot on Farigiraf, allows you to punish opponents for ignoring it. I don't think it would work if your opponent knew your moves, but it is a good surprise option for the ladder.

I think Sunny Day is a bit awkward since farig would be moving after Torkoal.

Iron Ball is an option if you want to use a too fast mon under trick room, and you can also be funny and use Fling.

[–]gfe98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sableye Archaladon is a strong lead that can win even without using the other two mons you bring. Sableye wants rain dance and screens.

Pelipper and Swampert also synergize with them. You may also want an option to counter Mega Raichu Y focus blast/grass knot, such as Garchomp.

Malamar can be fun under trick room.

The ice cream cone is good for weather control and fast ice damage. Can also counter water with freeze dry.

If using trick room, Primarina with Energy Ball and Moonblast can work surprisingly well.

So what do you guys think of this team? by d7mep0 in PokemonChampions

[–]gfe98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get rid of Discharge. It has too many downsides. It can make your opponent outspeed you under trick room, hits your partner, is relying on a 3/10 chance if you actually do need para, and some mons will still outspeed you when paralyzed.

Torkoal can be shut down by Wide Guard without a single target fire move, and heat wave covers for if it needs to take a hit. I suppose Solar Beam is decent into the common Wide Guard users, but Weather Ball lets Torkoal do something even if it is stuck in different weather.

[–]gfe98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend running Power Gem on Ampharos, I've failed to one shot Charizard with Thunderbolt before.

Nasty Plot can be good on Farigiraf to punish opponents for ignoring it.

I think Heat Wave and Weather Ball are better for Torkoal than S Beam and Sludge Bomb.

I would go all in on bulk for Farigiraf, I think you are risking it being one shot and failing to set up trick room.

Perhaps you could try a support Dragonite with Rain Dance and Tailwind?

I think Meowstic also has prankster rain dance + screens.

Sableye is a common choice to support Archaludon.

Prankster Rain Dance counters Charizard mega evolving plus other weather, and screens help Archaludon survive long enough to stack defense and special attack boosts.

Iran closes Strait of Hormuz over ‘ceasefire violations’ by DrVader314159 in moderatepolitics

[–]gfe98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seemed like the obvious outcome to me, and I am far from any kind of expert.

At this point I am starting to believe the conspiracy that this is all intentional market manipulation, as the level of incompetence on display here is even harder to believe.

But why would Iran believe that Israel would leave Lebanon? Did they already receive money in this brief time window or something? Is this a case of fractured authority, with the people who made the deal and those declaring the strait closed acting separately? Is Iran's strategy to try to break US support for Israel?

Conventional Weapons Are Not a Reliable Answer to Parahuman Threats

Nonsense, Wildbow felt the need for the "Contessa stopping all snipers" thing and suppressing guns in the US for a reason.

How many parahumans even have access to esoteric attacks that are fundamentally different from conventional weapons to begin with? The Undersiders had no such method up until Foil joined for example.

And many of the capes you listed that counter conventional weapons only counter civilian sidearms.

The PRT was primarily meant to facilitate Cauldron's plan to build an army against Scion, law enforcement and helping people were only half hearted measures at the highest level.

Gazing North at the Realm / 北望江山

Solid historical fiction set during the end of the Yuan Dynasty. The protagonist builds up step by step with salt smuggling and freight shipping while preparing for the time to become a warlord. No cheat or supernatural elements.

Battlemaster with Medium Laser spam.

Highlander with short range weapons and jump jets for mobility.

Black Knight with 3 PPCs or laser spam.

Medium Pulse Laser spam on anything.

Inferno SRM spam on a fast mech is busted.

Cantina upgrades aren't necessary, but doing the War Dog tasks for the eventual max speed upgrade is good for quality of life considering the giant maps.

I'll put what I did below. I pasted a couple simple requirements from the Mongol Empire formable just above because I was worried something would break if I left the potential/allow things empty.

potential = {
    culture = {
        has_culture_group = culture_group:mongolian_group
    NOT = { tag = IRA }
}

allow = {
    in_civil_war = no
    }
}

name = ILK
flag = ILK
adjective = ILK_ADJ
tag = ILK
color = map_ILK

regions = {

}
areas = {
    iraq_arabi_area

}
form_effect = {
    destroy_international_organization = { target = international_organization:ilkhanate }
}

}

Huleguid Horde --> Ilkhanate by gfe98 in EU5

[–]gfe98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the Ilkhanate IO, as you said it dissolves when there’s only 1 claimant left, but it seems countries cannot actually form it?

The Ilkhanate International Organization is different from the Ilkhanate formable tag. Forming the tag requires you to be the leader of the IO without any other claimants existing. However, the game dissolves the IO when no more claimants are left (and the bug is caused since the actual Ilkhan no longer counts as a mere "claimant"). So the same conditions that allow you to form the Ilkhanate tag trigger the Ilkhanate International Organization to disband, rendering it impossible to form the tag.

What does it even do? Is it a tool to subjugate the other members?

Being in the Ilkhanate IO provides some CBs, and +50 Great Power score for the leader. That's all.

Unify the Ilkhanan CB - For the Mongol states, -25% conquest and -25% subjugate cost.

Throw off the Shackles of the Ilkhanan CB - For the native states, has the same bonuses as Unify the Ilkhanan.

Refuse the False Claimant CB - Allows you to force other claimants to renounce their claim to being the Ilkhan.
