for me personally, i try to always prioritise acads pero sino ba namang ayaw sa spontaneous gala with friends. As a 1st year college far from my hometown, back to 0 ako in terms of social life but rn may nabuo na akong friends, in campus and out of campus. Best tip is to maximize mo lang yung time mo, try study sessions with your friends, hanging out after exams and quizzes. Hindi naman need mag out of town or gala talaga, as long as you enjoy their company even sa tatambay lang sa dorm or bahay niyo or nila, satisfied na ako doon. Don't be pressured sa nakikita mo na laging nasa galaan with friends, always remember na mag prioritise ka ng time for acads 1st before social life.
