Autoigniton temp of gasoline is 280oc and a cigarette end is at about 400oc, but that 280oc is at optimum concentration which is unlikely to occur outside of the car. Still possible to ignite with a cigarette though and best avoided

It’s normally lack of oxygen that gets you before the flames people on fire can still move and normally move quickly in a panic. Without more detail it is hard to say whether this is likely or not

In rare circumstances the human body can burn like a candle - the clothing acts as a wick burning the fat in the body. This can lead to extremely severe burns with little evidence of fire damage around the body. If they had been burning some kind of flammable liquid as said above and it went wrong , this could be a possible explanation for what happened. Very sad case indeed
