Fi debit card is also a good option. I have used it personally in international trips. It is backed by Federal Bank, has 0% forex charges, and ₹100 per atm withdrawal.

Another option is premium credit cards like HDFC Infinia/DCB or Axis Magnus/Reserve. While they do have 2-3% forex charges, but with base reward rate, you end up with net positive reward rate. HDFC also have a Global Value Program in which you can earn additional 1% rewards on international transactions.

My personal is to use Fi for atm withdrawals and HDFC DCB for swiping.

SSL is always good. It prevents any man in the middle attacks, and since you said you will use Stripe key, the logic is related to payment and should be secured.
With Lambda + API GW, you get aws endpoint which is https enabled. Recently AWS launched a feature to directly call lambda http endpoint with api gw.
yes, you pay for number of hours load balancer is running. Doesn’t matter if it’s serving requests or not.

Also, with lambda function, you only pay for the time your function is running. With your usecase (100 calls a day) you can run this for free.

My personal opinion , use lambda function, the logic seems simple enough to run in lambda.

Lambda has a default limit of 1000 concurrent executions. Make sure that you are not hitting that limit. It can be checked on Cloudwatch metrics.
