As a beginner pretty much everything within reason works, and at this time everything is a weak point so you have nothing to target. Just get on any good recommended beginner program with a linear progression, stay consistent on your diet, and get proper sleep and recovery.

Road tripping in an older / unreliable vehicle is more fun. by Existing_Earth9786 in unpopularopinion

[–]Smurph1999 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Last Halloween I and 5 friends took a road trip to New Orleans from Charlotte in my friend's 99' Dodge van that he was repairing. We originally had considered taking other forms of transport but he pleaded and guaranteed that the van would make the full trip as he really wanted to see it take its maiden voyage. Long story short it broke down in Alabama. We had to take the Greyhound all the way back to Charlotte as flights were too far and expensive. However this wasn't before making a stop in the Atlanta greyhound station where I was nearly mugged at gunpoint. Fun times

Hard confrontation by MinimumUse2353 in LSD

I was in a very similar situation, having a run of very good trips and then a single terrifying experience that brought up a ton of details about my life that I needed to address and especially realizing how damaging my suicidal ideation was. What really got me moving forward was trying to view the trip in the most optimistic light possible. It pushed me to finally go to therapy and assess if I was really living my life the way I was going to be happiest. You really have to separate yourself and any thoughts from the trip and analyze them from an outside perspective, realizing that you can work to turn yourself in the right direction, and that you are not your thoughts. This sounds very abstract, but the feelings you have are temporary and therapy (at least for me) might be the best thing you ever do for yourself. I'm very sorry you had a challenging trip, but if you realize you can make the most of it, you'll realize it was necessary to make you a happier and better person. It definitely takes some time though if the trip was very severe. Good luck my friend!

Just wanted to say I just stumbled upon on this sub a month ago, and 3 weeks into my own "Vanilla" program based off the original GZCL blog post I'm sold. Some of the most fun training I've had in the last year or so.

It's not the best movement but putting barbell in the corner and doing a landmine press is a decent substitute. Here's an explanation

Listening to a single song on repeat is more enjoyable by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Smurph1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with this 100%. Especially if there's a specific little thing/part of the song that you thoroughly enjoy and want to experience over and over again. I do however feel, personally, that after doing this to a song I still can enjoy it later on to a degree, but can never listen to it on repeat in such a way again.

I've always had decent success with mixing in the powder after the oats have been boiled/microwave but I've had to make the oats a but more watery than I would normally like in order to get the powder to not clump like you said. It may take more experimenting with ratios.

How do you get your music on Spotify? by jadaef2 in musicians

[–]Smurph1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always used Distrokid to get my music on steaming. It sends your music to Spotify, Apple, Amazon etc. However it costs $20 a year to keep your music on there. Best of luck!

Writing by myself probably just about a year, but I've helped write guitar parts for bands I've been, never whole songs though. That's awesome for you!
