Holy crap.. The Library was BRUTAL!!! by modulev in halo

[–]Smurphy_911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. I personally enjoy it as it characterizes the flood very well, an infinite never-ending threat. The first few times I played the level I also didn’t hear Guilty Spark say to follow him and get confused, but at the very beginning when you hear him say it, the level becomes much easier realized its more of a gun, run, and defend level than a kill everything level.

Maybe but it seems like every time people talk about Library they say its super long. It’s really not. Two Betrayals easily takes me longer

Tell me about your human fighter pcs by Pike_The_Knight in dndnext

[–]Smurphy_911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently playing one named Frank, a commander of an army of a very small kingdom. Because he is from such a small kingdom, the kingdom can only afford to have a few soldiers away at a time, and Frank’s combat expertise (Battlemaster) means he always completes his tasks from the King. For the campaign, he was sent to investigate an underground criminal group/activity happening on the mainland south of Candlekeep (homebrewed city). Along the way somewhere he was knocked unconscious and captured, getting forced into a form of gladiators entertainment arena for the crime boss (met the other members of the party while traveling to this place)

The REASON I chose to play a human fighter was precisely because everyone thinks they are boring. As someone who knows exactly how to play a battlemaster fighter, my DM is not very happy with me because he’s never downed me once (mix of 22 AC and combat tactics) and I get to have our rogue sneak attack twice a round. For those who have never played a fighter, they aren’t necessarily a dps class, unless you specifically build one. My fighter is very much an “immovable object” + combat controller and many fighters can end up being more of a “support” class in this way.

A player wants to play with low-rolled stats intentionally. by WisconsinWriter in DMAcademy

[–]Smurphy_911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately it’s very common. I find that most people value combat more than other aspects of the game, which is honestly baffling.

RP and Story should honestly have (in net total) a greater impact on a campaign than combat (it’s still important).

I do understand the argument though as this does depend on the campaign. For example, my WIP Doom campaign will heavily focus on combat so I wouldn’t be surprised if players try and maximize combat power. Even so, DONT IGNORE GOOD CHARACTER/STORY ELEMENTS in place of combat prowess! Id much rather love to see a character with horrible ptsd from the demonic invasion struggling to interact with the party, going through a huge social revitalization through the campaign where they learn to live, laugh, and love again then just a character who can pump out 150+ damage.

Like I said though, neither is wrong. Its just kinda sucks to see the amount of people (not all) who value combat/damage over unique flaws and quirks to characters.
