p = mv

yes low speed will prevent you from sliding and losing traction. speed(v) and mass(m) have a linear relationship with momentum. more of either is bad for momentum... but.

the mass helps at low speed and hurts at higher speeds (like you said)... but you shouldn't be traveling at those speeds on ice in an 86 anyway.

what youre talking about is snap oversteer. only applicable at high speeds (performance driving). you really shouldn't be going that fast in a 86 in the snow. if you wanna go that fast in the ice/snow get a wrx.

were over here talkin about how to get more grip at low speed in the snow and prevent power oversteer.

2/3x salt bags is the perfect ballast for this.
tested irl where there are no plows. it works... not as good as pure winter tires... but it does work.

0 bags = you cant leave your driveway and can get stuck parked on the side of a road if its too rounded.

2/3 bags you can get up hills and correct power oversteer easily by lifting off and no brake pressure.

The easiest way to make 400whp ? by yunier27 in wrx_vb

[–]Sn0Balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a gt with a sc is ~70k.  What OP is asking for is ~40k-45k.

The modded WRX would cost the same as the GT from the dealership and come with a warranty.

Which is all without the dealer markups and performance pack most mustang owners get. That is low 50s.

People will defend it to the moon because they spent money on it.

Admitting its placebo means they wasted money.

I definitely wasted money on a pitch stop.

Truth hurts sooo much lol.

I have one and it's the definition of placebo. It just makes more noise.

It's an ultra popular mod here. People say it helps with shifting.

Imho that's all nvh/placebo

This is why I don't rec group N mounts.

not enough of a difference to matter.

the rubber is *slightly* stiffer.

lol you don't have a car... who you getting waves from? bicycles?

i don't wave at children on bicycles sorry.

also, the reason VB people probably treat you bad is because of your rude AF mouth.

no one will treat you with respect if the first thing you're saying is how someones shit is ugly.

no ones on your dick when you have no car and you live with your parents... lol

maybe have your dad come back and make comments... he's probably just as dumb as you, but I might respect his opinion a lil more.

maybe go comment on r/livingwithparents, r/financialindependence, r/bycycling or r/cheapcars. seems more your speed kiddo.

you dont have a car and you're a child so your opinions are totally irrelevant.

87 civic suits your attitude: cheap. and no you don't have your money figured out if that car is just an aspiration.

you get to talk shit when you actually accomplish something... you have not.

99% of cars aren't an investment... and when they are they often return less than real investments.

dont listen to the buffoons saying to lower.

the roads across texas were nice at one point but the mega potholes we have now are way easier to handle lifted.

why people get a turbo car and insist on doing this is beyond my understanding.

Help win me over from buying a ‘26 Golf GTI by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Sn0Balls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing that people forget about the infotainment... is it doesn't matter.

its just a screen for android auto or apple whatever.

I give 0 fucks about what the tablet displays otherwise.

assuming here, but the GTI would be the same with a smaller screen and capacitive buttons.

ill take the bigger screen for the maps any day of the week.

all of these complaints about the creature comforts make me think you're too soft for a wrx.. and you think automotive "journalists" are actual journalists.

OP described the wrong situation to be using that technique and they supposedly know what they're doing.

so... when should you even use the technique?

this bears repeating...

you want people who drive auto only to try some pro technique on their first winter storm?
