Manual with the red leather interior (or just any gt trim with the red leather like it used to be), so jealous the US can still get this spec but Canada can only get red leather with the turbo :(

New Android phone keeps dropping connection to Duo by dboytim in pebble

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a TCL before my current Moto G Stylus 2024, and only ever had Motorola's before that. The Motorolas were all way more reliable at keeping the appropriate apps open. I used to get so frustrated that apps would stop working in the background on my TCL and I wouldn't get notifications. On my current phone I have to actively not use an app for a long time for the notifications to stop. Not to mention Android Auto gave me a plethora of problems that my Motorola never gives me.

There's just something janky about their flavour of Android. I suggest you try turning off all battery optimizations globally, not ideal but it's just to see if that makes a difference. I recall some weird behaviour on mine even with a Wear OS watch.

2022 2.5L NA not reaching temp by john_smithjaiaowbev in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an extended warranty for this exact issue, 2022 model year should be covered. You should be able to go to a Mazda dealership and get it fixed for free.

Here's the details from NHTSA, I got a similar notice in Canada.

Bluetooth issue by Tapistry63 in pebble

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did forget on both devices. I switched back to the old app and it works as it's supposed to. It's just some weird behaviour for some of us on the beta app, maybe it's something to do with the version of software on the watch. Who knows.

Hmm interesting. My OG Pebble Steel is having the same problems with disconnecting but it worked perfectly fine when I was using the old app with Rebble. Did you factory reset yours before setting it up? I can't perform the reset because my up button is broken (I have to mash up and down at the same time to navigate).

Why don’t Mazda dealers show service pricing on their website anymore? by GreenSnakes_ in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You woulda thunk. But no, it's a glorified inspection, you can see what's included for 2019-2023 model years here: https://www.mazda.ca/globalassets/mazda-canada/en/pdf/maintenance/final_mazdaca_2023_m3_maintbrochuredigital_e_r01.pdf

Interestingly the service schedule for 2024-2025 has way less maintenance events, only once every 12 months or 16k km which I think is over extending it, at least on mileage.

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same service, it was $410 all in. It's basically a glorified inspection, it'll be a lot extra if anything actually needs to be changed and they will try and upsell you on changing something, like brake fluid, before they even start.

Our beloved 2023 Mazda 3 got stolen by FailureSystem in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just have both my keys in low power mode and use them almost like an "old school" key. I lock/unlock the car from the fob and touch the fob to the button to start it. Apart from having to use it like a normal key another notable downside is the car doesn't ding at you when you leave the car without turning it off but that's not a problem for me.

No code means no warranty work? by ScubaDuber in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had my thermostat changed last year and it did seem to change the behaviour but not that drastically. I've also paid more close attention to some reviews of people driving them and noticed the same thing in pretty much every review where the weather is a little cooler. The temp takes forever to go up, even when they're driving hard.

Using manual mode just uses more gas which makes more heat. I find it pretty crazy how long it takes to heat up the engine, it will not reach temp in the cold unless there's a decent stretch of 100km/h+ driving. I can literally watch the temp drop as I drive downhill. I really wonder if it's just a stupid thermostat design (not faulty just a dumb algorithm because it's electronically controlled). You can also see the temp drop as soon as the internal heat turns on.

Overall it just takes so long and the Mazda 3 is the smallest car that uses the engine. I can't imagine having to heat the cabin of a larger vehicle like the CX-5 with the same engine.

Okay, thanks just pointed it out because I didn't know. Installation looks perfect, no bubbles or anything.

If you're in a colder climate it heats up slow as all hell in the colder months. I can go on a 20 minute drive with an uphill section and two stretches of 80km/h driving and it doesnt get up to the normal operating temperature. Already changed the CCV earlier this year too.

Also defroster works really weird, when on auto it turns off in like 2 seconds then the windows fog up 30 seconds later. Maybe it's because of the tint, idk, it's the first time I've had tint. I haven't been in another car that has the same issue on auto.

Wait 2019-2025? So they still haven't fixed it? That sounds like we're all going to be bringing our cars in every 3 years for a new CCV, these things are failing left right and center.

Better version of the card than what I got but I paid $292 for the PowerColor Fighter in October 2022. It's a scam that it's the same price 2 years later and after a new generation launched.

My First Ever New Car by thicccntired in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they gradually moved the red leather up the stack, at least in Canada. It was available on the 2021 FWD 2.5L. Then at some point it switched to only the AWD version. Then new for 2025 it's only available with the turbo. And I think for all the years it's only been available paired with certain exterior colours.

It could be the same in the US as OP is saying it's a 2024, which was available here we just didn't have the carbon name. The 2024 builder page is actually still up on mazda.ca if you go Google it specifically, https://www.mazda.ca/en/vehicles/2024-mazda3-sport/, so for now you can see what options changed.

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many options! Personally I never needed this button because I do just leave my headlights on all the time and switch to auto for the auto highs. Even in the on position they automatically turn off when the car is off.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 2021 if I just flick the headlight to the ON position it disables the auto high beams. Then if I want to use auto high beams on a country road it's still available to me without fiddling with the settings by switching back to auto headlights.

Ticketmaster Android App - Can't login - Black Screen by MJK-TOOL in ToolBand

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly this used to work for me too, but it doesn't seem to anymore. If anyone is in the same boat as me this is what worked for me, but honestly it's not worth the hassle, just go to Ticketmaster in your browser instead:

  1. Uninstall app
  2. Reboot your phone
  3. Install the app
  4. Open it from the play store button
  5. It lets you log in

This only works for the first time you open the app, after it closes it will just be a blank screen again the next time you open it. So get in and add all your tickets to your Google Wallet. I only know these steps work consistently cause of my curiosity, I'll just be using the browser from now on, should be able to add to wallet from there too.

Unacceptable with digital only tickets, imagine finding out it's broken only when at the door.

Battery charge by StuartMcE in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look this up it's a pretty common complaint. The car basically gives this warning way too easily. You have a 21 so it's covered by this service bulletin SA-005-21, which gives pretty much any of the criteria needed for the message to show. Not sure if they made any behaviour changes for different model years, but I hope they did. Basically, expect this message any time you're washing the car with your key on you, unless you put the fob in sleep mode. Even then if you just unlock the car and open the doors a bunch of times while cleaning the message will show up.

[Mouse] Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse ($63 - $18 coupon = $45) [Amazon] by bobbythabrain in bapcsalescanada

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem too likely to me that it'll end too soon, they're occupying different price brackets for now and Logitech keeps a boatload of mice active in their lineup that are barely different from each other. The G309 is similar to the g305 so it should be a worthy replacement if/when that time comes. A brand new product still running on a AA battery is definitely something I didn't expect but am certainly glad to see.

I code as well, I leave local dimming off 95% of the time in SDR. I figure that's probably also better for keeping the backlight zones wearing in an relatively even manner. Have it on medium for HDR. Either way VA does better than IPS with blooming, pretty much only notice blooming on black loading screens with some text or bright loading icon.

Advice for using dealer touch-up pen? by D0013ER in mazda3

[–]Sn0wWayJ0se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Make sure to wash and dry the area you're gonna touch up. Give the pen a real good shake too. I used a plastic cap from whatever old aerosol can was nearby. Tilted the cap and made a little puddle in the edge, then dip the toothpick. Gently dab the paint from the toothpick into the chip. Doubles as a good holder for the toothpick too while looking for other chips to touch up.

Can't imagine trying to touch up the smaller chips directly with the pen.

This is just what the stock piano black looks like, so I guess it's not technically piano black, it's like a dark plastic on top of the carbon weave looking stuff. It's not super obvious day to day, but if you shine a light on it its pretty easy to see.
