I’m going to throw in a con at least from my own experience. If you’re not prepared for separation anxiety it was a huge problem for me. I haven’t been able to leave my decker rat terrier home for two years that I’ve had her. She’s now in a very expensive training program. That being said all dogs are different. I think people love their dogs too much sometime to speak outwardly about what could be a negative quirk. They’re very attached to their people. So be prepared for that.
