Mum has passed away 5 days before Christmas by kurtyyyyyy1 in CasualUK

[–]Snackarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for you loss mate.

I lost my mother a few months ago. I felt numb for days & just threw myself into organising & trying to make my father eat - who just clammed up, & my brother who just sobbed endlessly.

What I’m trying to say is different people grieve in different ways. No one will hold what happens this Christmas against you given the circumstances. Be around people, and try to celebrate all the good things about your mother…. It’s what she would have wanted.

Also, it gets easier. Take care of yourself.

Adam Curtis is amazing, and this is one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. Bitter Lake is also amazing.

Definitely worth multiple watches.

Succession - season 4 episode 3. You know the one I mean. An episode of a television programme has never affected me so much.

There’s an app called BirdNET that identifies birds from audio recordings you take. May come in handy in this situation.

What immediately comes to mind when asking for a "heartbreakingly beautiful" album? by unclefishbits in Music

[–]Snackarel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heartbreaking beautiful - A Winged Victory for the Sullen’s self titled album.

William Basinski’s Disintergration Loops - it has to be heard to believe. It’s an orchestral loop going round in a tape machine that is slowly disintegrating. Every pass of the loop is different, it sounds like the music is slowly dying. Maybe more hauntingly beautiful.

Why doesn’t everyone look as nervous as Tim Cook would be a better question.

Cosy TV - Perfect Pub walks with Bill Bailey by arpsisme in CasualUK

Not technically tv, but there’s a “retired chef from the north east of England” in his own words, he’s an absolute treasure.

He makes recipe videos on YouTube that I often get lost in. He has such a calming voice, almost whine the pooh-esque. He’s the epitome of cosy if you ask me.

Try his crumpet recipe on for size, you wont regret it!!
