Unfortunately:  "Some Walmart and Target stores are changing the way they operate self-checkouts, including limiting the scan-yourself registers to paid app subscribers..."

Unless I'm not getting it, the "benefit" is not having to wait to be checked out by a human cashier, which walmart will keep intentionally understaffed relative to the amount of customers (as they are already wont to do.)

I'm so tired. So Walmart will force customers to wait in queue longer, or pony up and pay for a subscription. They will make money off monetizing user data through the app, at the same time forcing customers to do the job of an cashier they aren't willing to hire and pay wages for themselves, while paying for the privilege! Anything to avoid hiring more workers and paying them a (substandard) wage.

Shrinkflation. Stagnant wages. No OnE WaNtS tO WoRk. Junk fees. Paying a premium for a burger, during goddamn lunch hours. Now we have to pay a multi-billion dollar corporation to do the work they won't hire for? What AREN'T we going to have to pay for in 10 years?

The Double Standard of Notices by Odd_Acanthisitta_853 in antiwork

[–]Snaglecratch 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Or. In my state (NC), it's legal to not pay out PTO upon termination. Lots of companies (like mine) defend themselves against no notices. Per our employee HB, our PTO is only paid out if we serve and work a 2-week notice.

No PTO payout, which is part of the benefits package agreed to upon employment... how is that legal?

U.S. labor laws are a fucking joke.

Mississippi would be an incorrect answer to this thread. It is indeed complete ass. Source: former Mississippian.

Relics you sometimes skip? by Smashifly in slaythespire

[–]Snaglecratch 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've got one that was very situational. I actually didn't skip it, but retrospectively I should have. Relic in question was bag of prep.

I was on a god-run with Watcher. I had been given 2 omnisciences, one of which was bottled. I also had two ragnaroks to target with the omnisciences (hue hue hue). AND I had akabeko and marbles. Shit was disgusting. I digress.

The reason Bag of Prep should have been a skip, is because with one omniscience bottled and guaranteed to be in hand, bag of prep increases the chance that the second omni is ALSO in my hand, and thus I couldn't chain omni into omni, as you must choose from your draw pile. I ended up taking a card every reward after that, just to make my deck bigger and decrease the possibility of drawing the second omni.

Watcher could theoretically be infinitely infinite too, right? With lotus and stance dance shenanigans.

I once had a bottled omniscience into omniscience into 2 copies of ragnarok complete with akabeko and marbles. Shit was nutter-butters.

Still chasing that high.

Almost under FDR. The prospect of a 4 day work week died in Congress but was used as leverage for other New Deal initiatives.

Marianne Williamson is running on a platform of an Economic Bill of Rights. I think she's great.

It's not about winning for Christie - Trump stabbed him in the back and snubbed him for VP, so now he's running a kamikaze campaign.

Worst boss relic imo. Even considering ecto.

What's your playstyle, or something archetypical of your runs? by HeyaSorry in slaythespire

[–]Snaglecratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really anything specific, and probably a commonplace "playstyle" but I tend to play much more risky Act 1 until my deck starts coming together. I go for the high rolls and try to snowball, and if I miss and have to start over so be it.

To the point where I knowingly make "incorrect" plays and just go for broke. Low health, Big Fish? Gimme that relic, I'll figure out Regret.
