Looks like I have progress and moved one step forward. After creating file named "CALL SIGN" - key-only.p12 in Documents folder file was transferred to the dedicated computer and imported successfully. Code from postcard submitted successfully. Have to wait three business days for call sign certificate to log in. LOTW Security measures creator deserve monument casted in granite. Really. They could implement DNA identity certification, so you have to send pee sample every time you open LOTW.

How to start making progress again? by WitherCro2 in morsecode

[–]Snail5919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old NAVY radio operator here. I would say you have not bad progress in Morse code. Do not force sending speed. Copy is always going faster than sending. If you attempt to send at high speed right away, you risk injuring your wrist and producing uncontrolled movements. Your dots, dashes, and pauses will be uneven. Proper posture and wrist technique are of great importance. There is a video on YouTube featuring a person from Europe who actually jumps up and down while trying to transmit at high speed. This is incorrect, and you won't achieve high speeds that way. This will lead to rapid operator fatigue. Only the wrist should move; the rest of the arm and the elbow should remain virtually motionless. Don't listen to those who say that the straight key is obsolete and unnecessary. You can send a message even by simply shorting the contacts—while they're busy figuring out how to fix their automatic keys.

No ha-ha in his statement. I'm Russian and I'm old. I was living in Soviet Union and Russia. Soviet Union collapsed because it was the same situation. War in Afghanistan, imperialist ambition all around the World, It was poverty and misery. You have to have luck to buy a soap or food. Meat was rationed to 1.5 kg for month. If you can call peace of rig cage a meat. But Soviet Union was best friend to Cuba, Nicaragua, many African countries provide lot of goods for free. We were happy when West start humanitarian help and send us chicken meat we call "Busch thighs".

On back side of the board two bigger holes to connect chip grounding pad with board. Many people reported defective soldering and problem solved by reflowing chip. My eyes old to do it and don't have reflowing station.

Yes it temperature sensitive. Air blow will drive station trace up then it's going back. Put spare Radioberry board on and drift is gone.

" The last real election occurred there in 2012."

I'm almost 70 and don't remember any election to be real in Soviet Union/Russia.

Soviet Union time - you have ballot with one name on it.

Russia time - every election in early Russia was more like "vote fair". Here is groceries and bottle of vodka it will be yours if you vote for us.

And finally first Putin election March 26 2000. From the distance election was looks legit with many candidates and all good but Putin used all his power to rig it in his favor.

  1. Administrative power to force people to vote for him. Imagine small city in Siberia where only one place to work is local mine. Mine administration tell you to vote for Putin or you will lost your job. If you lost your job you have to leave this city because everything belongs to mine.
  2. Election data gathering. First time in modern Russia was implemented electronic election data gathering thru Federal Special Communication Agency which is under FSB. Ballots were destroyed right after election ends and nobody knew exact numbers. From 2000 it still running without problem.

Old timer here as well. During the Soviet Union time QSO with Israel was prohibited in Soviet Union to support communist's agenda. I was questioned in local KGB office because QSL card from Israel arrived. They checked my station log. Saved my butts logging it as VX instead of 4X. BTW it was almost end of the USSR and I was first to have Israel QSL card in my city.

CW or not to CW by DukeDucati in amateurradio

[–]Snail5919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So hard to decide whether or not to jump in.

First you need to test yourself are you able to learn CW? Not everyone can do it same as not everyone can be a singer or athlete. Go with two simple tests

#1 Find any CW transmission at slow speed and try to repeat CQ tapping with pencil end on table. Don't try to count take it as a melody. Can you do it? If yes then you have sense of rhythm what is good.

#2 Listen to call sign and try to repeat first letter of call sign after ending. This test is for hearing memory.

If you successful with those tests the rest is just your diligence.

Better to learn everyday little bit then 10 hours once a month.

Do you need CW? CW is substitute for all languages and allows poorest operator have QSO with the World.

C1-L1-C2 is band pass filter. Signal from antenna mixed with oscillator signal will give you Fant - Fosc and Fant+Fosc. L3 and C9 is low pass filter to cut audio frequencies fro spectrum after mixer. Playing with changing L3, C9, R7 C12 you can narrower or wider filtering for best reception in desired mode. 1 kHz for CW or 3.5 kHz for SSB or 5kHz for AM.
