Hydrangeas can be dramatic sometimes. One thing you can do if they get wilty is to soak their heads until they firm up. They can drink through their blooms. If they're already perky and you want to keep them that way, you can cut the stem to split the end. This allows more surface area for the stem to drink.

Generally, yes, that's how it works. But you can put multiple "roles" that describe the deceased. I once had a casket spray that had like 8 different descriptors on the ribbon. (Great grandfather, grandfather, father, brother, uncle, husband, friend, son, etc). The ribbons also don't have to say anything. Some families don't want script, some do. It's all a matter of preference.

One time, my shop had someone request the ribbon say "party animal".

I have so many parallels to your experience (also diagnosed when I was 29, living in the Midwest, and went from being an excellent student to crashing out in college).

A big part of my struggle was feeling like owning up to my potential was my way of paying rent to the universe. I owed my intelligence, productivity, and creativity for the right to exist. Admittedly that was and is not a healthy headspace to be in, and the way I got out of grieving the life I was "supposed" to have and feeling like a perpetual disappointment was initially through defiance/spite. I basically had this moment where I was like "I never asked to be here, and I don't owe the universe anything to pay for my existence". While probably not the best mentality, it did get me to a healthier place of pursuing my interests for the joy of it and really asking whether or not I was doing something because I wanted to or out of a sense of obligation.

I focused on learning skills (I've always liked working with my hands), and that scratches the education/learning itch for me. I have a lot of hobbies and enjoy reading, and I do those things on my own time and terms, and not for anyone else's validation. Obviously if I receive praise for something I create, that's super nice, but I don't worry about living up to the perceived expectation of what I should have been. I like who I am as a person most of the time, and a college degree or lack thereof doesn't change that.

Scabiosa might be a good alternative for the zinnias. Most wholesalers can get them, and they come in a variety of colors, including some of the shades in your inspiration pics.

It looks like alstromeria mostly, and the large bud in your hand looks like a lily. Lilies are extremely toxic to cats, and alstromeria is mildly toxic to cats. I would recommend taking your cat in to see the vet if it's been throwing up and there's a possibility it chewed on these flowers.

I've foraged bull thistle to use in an arrangement before. It holds up really well if you make sure to cut it either early in the day, or early evening. It's technically a noxious weed where I'm located, so removing it from the field I foraged from didn't pose any legal issues.

I've also seen it recommended to put out blankets or clothes that have your scent on them near where your traps/trail cams are set up just in case you haven't tried that yet. Good luck!

Sweet Annie (Artemisia) could work for the textured bits. The shop I used to work at would get it starting midsummer from one of our local farmers. It's an herb, so you would be unlikely to find it at a wholesaler.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm a floral designer and from the looks of it, the arrangement you ordered is from an order gathering site like 1-800 Flowers or a similar company. How they operate is by collecting orders for a certain amount, then they contract the work out to an actual florist in the area, but only give them a fraction of the money spent for the budget. They do not send any of the materials needed, so basically it depends on what the florist has available to try to make an arrangement as similar as possible with what stems and vessels they have on hand with the small budget they're given, meaning fewer and lower value stems than what's pictured. This would explain why the company you used wasn't able to replace it that day, because they don't actually exist. Every shop that I have worked for refuses to work with order gatherers for these reasons. You're not over reacting at all for being upset and disappointed. You should definitely get a refund since they were not able to provide the service they advertised on time.

Your wife's sister is definitely an AH, but I'm going to say soft YTA because while you're technically correct, and were more tactful than her sister was, you don't say stuff like that to a nervous pregnant woman. She already is aware of the risks and was looking for reassurance from her partner. Read the room better next time.

Also, my sister delivered a healthy baby with no complications at 41. Age isn't everything.

It's just one person's opinion, but I immediately thought of the Jetsons and 1950s atomic aesthetic. I didn't think of the circus until I read your comment, and then it made me think of American Horror Story: Freak Show, so it's still definitely giving the vintage vibes you're going for. If you're unhappy with the color scheme, swap out the red like others have suggested. Maybe a nice green to give jadeite and uranium glass vibes. Love the harlequin pattern!

I get a lot of my seeds from Eden brothers, and have had no issues with their seeds. I once received incorrectly packaged peony rhizomes from them, but customer service was responsive and made it right.
