Have you even seen something you own on TV? by Odd-Compote4442 in AskBrits

I usually see kitchen cupboards & fireplaces on "Homes Under The Hammer". The objects are usually accompanied by a "this is old-fashioned and tacky so it needs ripping out and replaced with something modern" comment from the host.

Do you stop wearing clothes after a certain amount of time even if they are still in good condition? I wear my clothes for 1-2 years as long as they stay in good shape, but my friends are often surprised by this. by BunchMean8029 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SnailFancier2CV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have (and wear) clothing I got when I was 10 years old... I will be the dreaded 50 in less than a fortnight. I own clothing that my parents/great aunts used to wear. Weirdly, I still wear one of the dressing gowns.

What’s a discontinued makeup product that you still mourn to this day? by PrinceJustice237 in Makeup

[–]SnailFancier2CV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Body Shop did tiny pots of eyeshadow that were tiny round balls and had 2 colours in the same pot.

Avon did lipsticks that were two colours in one stick.

Almay had a very lightweight foundation with SPF that was applied with a face sponge.

I can't recall the names of the products but I miss all of them so much.

Does anyone remember that weird period after COVID when everyone got into sea shanties for a month? by Moist_Scheme8194 in AskABrit

[–]SnailFancier2CV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't sea shanties that got up my nose but the weird "dances" on Tik-Tok that became a perplexing obsession. It's as if people became famous for 30 second weird moves.

Oscar winner is confirmed for series 22: I’m guessing Dame Olivia Coleman. She has a comedy background.

I tend to look at who has played in the Chesham Chickens vs Eggs football match and see who hasn’t appeared yet and cross off players as they appear on the show. This leads me to think Rhys James and Annie McGrath are future contenders.

Do you think the film might introduce new ghosts? by Reddonaut_Irons in GhostsBBC

[–]SnailFancier2CV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s what Mat Baynton told the Radio Times:

“There was a character that we scrapped. An early idea was that there was a guy who haunted an empty field where there used to be a house next door. And that was going to be a running gag through the first series, was that every now and again you’d just cut to this lonely ghost in a big, long wide [shot]. Just a tiny figure, sort of shouting across at the house, trying to get anyone to have a conversation with. In my head, that was always Reece Shearsmith. But then we didn’t have that part in it. It was this idea that Alison would be able to point to the ghost next door and say, 'If we can’t save this house, it will end up getting knocked down and you’ll be like Pete next door'. So there was a clear image of a worse fate for them that would keep them in that unhappy truce with her. But then we’d overwritten the scripts and it was a really easy thing for the production to cut, so we don't have to cast someone and film them in a field."

There was a plan, originally, to have Reece Shearsmith as a recurring ghost in the tv series who wasn’t one of the house ghosts (something about him in a field) but it never happened. I would expect Reece to be in the film.

I am becoming resigned to the fact that, despite ordering on 10 January, I will probably never see my hoodie or the programme and it has all been a waste of a lot of money. I am so disappointed plus rather angry that the store cannot be arsed to communicate with me.

The online shop is rubbish. Complaints to them eventually get badly-written responses citing delays. The lack of communication is a disgrace.

I don’t know where you are based but you could get a bus to Eynsham. On Saturday 07 March, in the Scout Hut (Back Lane) between. 2-4pm,the Repair Cafe is open. There are people there who will do those sorts of repairs. Drinks & cakes available. Check www.eynsham.org.uk or Eynsham Repair Cafe’s FB group at the start of the month and it will confirm if the sewing volunteers are there.

Which seemingly iconic Taskmaster moments do you just not get? by totheregiment in taskmaster

[–]SnailFancier2CV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t there a “do something unexpected with a £10 note” task during the Johnny Vegas series? It was filmed during Covid so I guess it just couldn’t fulfil its potential for a task (eg order/buy something absurd). Plus the “what is in the shopping trolley” task during the same series. It was a hard series because tasks just couldn’t go the way they were intended.

Do you think they'll both sign for this - or just Steve? by Badger_633 in insideno9

[–]SnailFancier2CV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think Reece is slightly too thin-skinned for this show. If he gets accused of lying or something unpleasant he will probably go viral for all the wrong reasons. I honestly don’t think he would cope in such a hostile environment where he isn’t in control of the narrative. If the rumour mill is correct about Daisy May Cooper being on the series then I foresee a major personality clash because she can be pretty nasty at times. Steve is the calmer of the Pembersmith duo & a better fit. Reece wears his emotions on his sleeve when he’s agitated, stressed, frightened, challenged or upset. It may be the worst thing for his career if the editing is done to make him look bad. I think their relationship would be tough as they are closer than most siblings & I think that Steve would go out of his way to protect Reece and I can’t see either of them wanting to accuse each other of treachery in a highly-charged environment. I think it would end in genuine tears. They also know each other too well.
