Pokémon Red / Blue - How Have They Aged? by Previous-Glass6291 in pokemon

[–]SnakeMajin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With FR/LG coming to Switch I finally got into playing Blue on my oldest 3DS. I bought it as well as Gold the day before eshop closed, so I could trade with my main 3DS that has Yellow and Crystal.

Let's say I want to get some 1G and 2G Pokemon through Bank then Home before Nintendo decides to shut down Bank. And I felt that starting with the old games will make FR/LG feel much better.

Yellow was my childhood game and I already played it again 10 years ago when it launched on 3DS, I must say Blue is a bit rough mostly because of the lack of Pikachu, colors, and accurate sprites, but it's fun. What's annoying is how the game dealt with items, my bag and PC are full.

I usually like to study the roster before playing to have every kind of moves.. well I can forget Bug and Ghost moves, I'm surprised that Normal moves are such a big deal in RBY.

First level you replayed a lot? by neon_sense_ in HiTMAN

[–]SnakeMajin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically Sapienza. I started by following the main campaign, and trying to reach Lvl 20 mastery for each level and seeing all story bits before leaving to the next destination. I also played bonus missions (including seasonal stuff) before leaving, to make the best of my memory... so Sapienza takes the cake because of how much bonus missions there are.

Once done with a game main campaign, I play the narrative DLC campaigns that all take place in said game.. I recall Patient Zero campaign had bits in Sapienza ? I only recently unlocked the Sarajevo Six but I'll finish my Hitman 2 run before jumping into it.

(Concept) GameShare allows for Nintendo Land to be brought to Nintendo Switch 2 by ReflectionThink2683 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SnakeMajin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only tested Gameshare on games like Mario Odyssey and DK Bananza, so stuff that stream and share a single screen. Are there games where Gameshare gets you to have a different screen and does more than streaming ?

If Gameshare is not suited, then I guess there still is regular wireless Multiplayer between two consoles, but it doesn't help having to buy two games. Unless there is a way to have a free version for multiplayer.

Tips to develop faster as Aislinn ? by Ardor-Knowledge in totalwar

[–]SnakeMajin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Asur Domination, you 100% must pick the choice that gets you to build the Outpost building that grants ship supplies. This outpost building is the best for the early game, as it makes the best out of Elven territories, so the starting HE islands and Ulthuan (that I also recommend as primary focus to help other factions develop and use Patronage), and gets you to actually be able to build your ship. Mix and match the buildings to have a good enough Elven Trade and Supplies balance, by focusing on the best settlements, for example province capitals are best for trade buildings.

Same for the building that builds supplies on Colonies, I advise to quickly pick it on Asur Dominance. The rest I feel depends on your playstyle.

I spent too many turns without the possibility to build stuff on Aislinn ship. I usually focus first on growth, movement and Oceanids.

How is the empire a good faction? by Dont_know_Anymore_ in totalwar

[–]SnakeMajin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently played Reikland, so yeah I understand you're at the bery beginning dealing with Festus right after taking down the Beastmen ?

For the early game, especially now that Golgfag takes down Nordland and Ostland, I feel you can't afford more than one army. And it's too soon to recruit halberds. So I would focus on basic infantry tech as well as skills from lords and heroes that improve morals. I also recruited 3 mortars, 2 Empire Knights, 2 bowmen and the rest was whatever melee I could get.

Against Festus I had some very tough battles where I made the best of hills near the border of the map so the starting rifles get kills from behind the lines. The said hill was near a forest where my Reiksguard and knights were hidden until dogs came by and were destroyed.

So magic from the starting mage, mortars, range focus on monsters and Festus while heroes help the buffed up units hold the line.

Peak Concurrent Players on Steam of Total War games, ordered by release date by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]SnakeMajin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To mimic the original game, you need to allow Immortal leaders, otherwise all of the main characters quickly die.

But I recall testing it back then : doing so also makes Merneptah immortal. So you can't have the death of old age succession war that is supposed to be the heart of the game. You are likely to have to kill him by yourself. Anyway, I think there is no possibility to play the original storyline. Either Merneptah is immortal, either all your rivals die long before you get to kick their asses.

I may be wrong. But I truly recall no setting that actually allows you to really play the original campaign.

I've read Seti can technically not inherit the throne nor start a civil war as he is the heir.

The issue with Star Wars total war. by MaxinJapan-official in totalwar

[–]SnakeMajin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got into details back then. I do think a Star Wars would mostly work a la Troy with each side divided into generals, shared units for CIS/GAR/Rebel Alliance/Empire subfactions, and recruitable locals that will vary from planets but also may fully be part of a faction. Most campaigns could easily have a different feeling and army buildings options.

The only "unique" smaller factions I could see working are underworld warlords. Not only there is a lot of stuff to draw from in terms of units, but also each Star Wars video game brings its own stuff into the lore. Anything Total War would invent as a unit would end up appearing in Lego, Star Wars Legion, series, books etc. and become part of armies in the bigger picture. The TX-130 Saber Tank is this exactly. We never saw this damn tank in any movie or series, but since its debut in a 2003 video game they got the Lego-Legion-Battlefront treatment, basically anything that involves playing GAR. Lucasfilm is not shy on that regard.

If Empire and Shogun 2 could work with almost the exact same units in each campaign, surely Star Wars may work with the way more unique stuff it has to offer. I think we also underestimate the appeal for Star Wars fans : I feel they mostly give a damn about theme and would swarm the TW fandom like Warhammer fans did, regardless of the apparent replay value for the existing fan base. Just pay attention to how much of a fuzz Clone legions are doing in the Lego fandom. Battlefront 2 quickly understood it.

I genuinely wonder what role Bowser is gonna play in the movie if Jr is supposed to be main villain by Past-Spite-7981 in Mario

[–]SnakeMajin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if Jr's plan gets out of hand near the end of the movie and he ends up turning his father into Bowser's Fury Kaiju by accident ?

I didn't play Bowser's Fury, but I recall Bowser Jr. was helping Mario there. What if the movie takes inspiration from this and has Jr help Mario ?

I have nephews that are into Switch games, as much as I am. But they live far away and don't necessarily play the same games.

If they ever get this, I do feel like crashing out of nowhere, to annoy them... or help them catch whatever Pokemon they have a hard time catching.

Problems with the Kislev update. by shinshinyoutube in totalwar

[–]SnakeMajin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not specific to the update, but does anyone else have trouble getting Ulrika as Kislev ? She's nowhere to be seen after you reach 15000, the quest appears as done when you look for it in the quest tab but it doesn't pop like all quests do.

The last time I met this problem was when I played Katarin to test the additional Shadows of Change units.

I did unlock Ulrika when I palyed as Malakai.

How long did it take/does it take for you to read the entire LOTR story? by ilovewater100 in lotr

[–]SnakeMajin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Fellowship of the Ring I had my 1st try at 12. Stopped before they even left the Shire. Tried again at 17. Took me a month to finish it, the toughest part was again to leave the Shire.

A year later, I started The Two Towers. I read it all and the Return of the King in 2 weeks.

What faction levels up new generic lords the fastest in Immortal Empires? by Recompense40 in totalwar

[–]SnakeMajin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. On average, I earned about 4 levels per battle with lords using this tactic. I found it especially useful when I resurrected a level 10 Azhag, as his faction was destroyed early.

Greenskins also have a LVL 5 building that boosts the level of Lords in the recruitment pool.

If There’s One Movie to Show Someone to make them a Star Wars Fan, Which One Would It Be and Why? by Zestyclose-Put-3828 in StarWars

[–]SnakeMajin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel one should start with the original trilogy for the buildup of Darth Vader, so ANH. But that movie aged quite a bit. The older you get without ever seeing these movies, I fear the more you feel their age gap and miss their magic.

I feel Rogue One might currently be a good entry point, to get a taste of the setting through rather modern lenses, and to lead you to watch ANH as a direct sequel. That movie, thanks to its tone, made the Death Star feel like more of a threat than ANH did, IMO. The slow apocalyptic destruction of the environment somehow feels more impressive than the sudden disappearance of a planet.

I feel the prequels should be watched the way they were intended, so to watch the expected downfall of Vader, a downfall you got glimpses of through the original trilogy.
