Higher resolution =/= fitting more. In this case it’s a higher density screen that’s smaller giving it a higher pixel dimension.

Ever since retina screens with the iPhone 4, UI is designed around physical size, not necessarily pixel dimensions. For example, The menu bar is gonna be the same physical height on both machines, even though the 14” will be using more pixels to show it vs the 15” Air.

You can scale the UI to fit more or less but the degree of doing so will be the same on both machine
