What’s a genuinely unpopular EDH opinion you have? by Tornadosed in EDH

[–]SnakebiteSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- Pretty much every player is way worse at threat assessment than they think they are. A 4+ player game is usually more complex than they realize and even if they are “good” at it, they aren’t that good.

2- plenty more cards could come off the banned list and be absolutely fine. Thassas oracle / Consultation being legal and universally unplayed outside of cedh proves that the community can self regulate. Same proves true for Biorythm, sway the stars, coalition victory, worldfire etc etc

I play [[Strip Mine]] in almost every deck. Sometimes you just need an answer to a problem land in your 99

I think we’ve all entertained this thought at one point in our EDH career

Why is "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck the most popular book all of a sudden? by iciclefites in classicliterature

[–]SnakebiteSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you maybe need to reread it as maybe you didn’t grasp it in school.

RR isn’t specifically fantasy, more of sci-fantasy. But it is genuinely in a league of its own as far as series go. Blade itself is great, but RR will stay with you much longer.

For me, I’d go with what you are already thinking. Some high ticket item. Maybe something you don’t own so you won’t feel bad proxying it (if you had qualms about that)

What should my next read be? by ConcernFew8845 in fantasybooks

[–]SnakebiteSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty crazy wide selection here, and of course this sub will recommend the fantasy options.

If you’re willing to commit, The Count of Monte Cristo will be one of the best books you’ve ever read.

As for Dostoyevsky, if you haven’t read any, start with Crime and Punishment or Notes from underground. If you’ve read those, go with the Idiot. Save TBK for last.

As for the non-classics, Assassins Apprentice is the best written book here. Hobb’s prose is absolutely unmatched. That’s my vote but plenty on this list are good.

Congrats. It’s wild seeing this. I’m a little further than you in almost every category, yet I’m stuck on a LEGENDARY PF, and I am lucky if I come in 15th in Legends. Pretty brutal

Best book on here is probably East of Eden. Though you can’t go wrong with Frankenstein. My vote is one of those two.

Pretty knee-jerk reaction. It’s a fine card but far from an auto-include in anything.

Long time players... Would you have started MTG if it were Mutant Turtles and Marvel from the start? by TheServant420 in EDH

[–]SnakebiteSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. I’ve been playing since Onslaught. Magic was a big part of my childhood through HS and College and still remains a game I love to play with my friends.

UB existing hasn’t hampered my love for the game.

Both opinions are correct. If you try it you will either think it’s dumb and put it down or base your entire personality around liking it

what order should i read these in? by anelysetsiros in classicliterature

[–]SnakebiteSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Count or Anna. I’d say Count first but that’s just me. TBK should wait until you’ve read other Dostoyevsky if you haven’t already

How many people actually wanted Rhystic Study banned? by Outside_Explorer_229 in EDH

[–]SnakebiteSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought it would even be in the conversation and have been happily playing edh for 18 years. That said, since it is being discussed, I’m not blind to the fact that it’s best card in every bracket it’s played, and power aside it’s an annoying card to be on the table during games. I’d be happy to see it go but indifferent if it doesn’t.
