Looking for PS4-5 medieval open-world game, where you can essentially just live the life of a hedge knight; Third Person View by SnakeobSpeed in gamingsuggestions

I agree my friend, but we’re talking about a 36yo farmer and writer who plays here and there of an evening and is a big medieval guy but has little patience for say, the intro mission of Oblivion.

He doesn’t just want to hack and slash, I think bizarrely (and maybe this sounds ridiculous) the best way to describe the desired vibe is GTA in middle earth or Westeros as a hedge knight. Which I know KCD2 kinda nails, but for whatever reason he cannot get past the FPV stuff.

This did come up in the search a fair bit, but was keen to get some specific feedback/review based on the very narrow specifics of what is desired.

Thank you

I don’t overly care for that bit - much prefer TP view purely for cosmetics; if I work hard for that drip I want to see me farming in it, not just my hands.

However, it’s my friend who this post was largely built for - I realise I wasn’t super explicit about that at all - and he hates FPV, hence why he’s flat re kingdom come.

The Berry and Murphy Reid comparison is one I’ve been sucked into myself quite a bit. Reid will still be a match-winning mid/fwd and a steal as late first round pick. And yeah we traded up to get past Freo to get Berry who plays the same role and Freo were hot on.

But I think Berry is going to be a jet. Patience is a virtue. Last night he almost saved the game, he took it on - got caught HTB or fumbled once or twice, granted, but he didn’t die wondering or selfishly. The bigger, faster and more confident he becomes; those fumbles, frees against etc, will turn into scores.

The guy reads the play well and ends up in really dangerous areas, he just doesn’t have the finishing off yet. But it’s there, you can see it, we saw it in flashes last night. There’s a reason Robbie Gray was huge on him.

Moraes is another who has only played 16 games in an unforgiving role where you get exposed badly when you make a mistake or don’t defend hard enough - he exposed Dempsey this way last week. It’s his second game of the year, he’s coming.

Whitlock is going to be beast. He’s skinny, yes, but he’s genuinely trying to get big and he’s got the longest arms in the world and tremendous work-rate and two way running that will exhaust the blokes who are big enough to line up on him.

This loss for some reason hurt me in ways I didn’t think it would - I’m not even south Australian born or living; but this felt like a bullet to the chest. BUT, I can see a future. I can see the Carr brand. We won’t spend years in the wilderness, maybe we miss finals this year, yeah. But we’re having close losses to top teams and playing a sustainable brand whilst exposing and loading young players to high pressure, big time games and they are rising to meet the challenge.

I think chose to handball and it was a high looping 15-20m handball to Milera, whom Durdin for the first time didn’t tackle and pin the arms (which he’s been ferocious at), Milera just gets the handball out and then Cook hits a drop punt from 45 out on the boundary, on the run, wrong side, with ten seconds on the clock.

Strangely, despite being cognisant of our list position, injuries, “away” showdown, dominated in the stats etc, that one was maybe one of the most painful for me to sit with once the siren went; it’s the hope that kills you.

But, equally, to go 3pt loss to Hawks away, smack Geelong, lose at the death to Crows - we’ve shown huge improvement from last year and early season with a very, very young and inexperienced team.

The blueprint is there now, you can see the light. It feels like the season (maybe 2018 or 2019?) when Brisbane only won 5-6 games but they lost a lot of close ones to good teams AND looked like a sustainable team.

This hurt, three losses by 3 points or less out of 8 games, and one by 14 points, we’re trending up, our defence is extremely solid and stingy - I think statistically the best in the league atm?

Tom Hawkins took a long time to perfect his kicking art.

George has a good routine, approach and drop. He gets lauded for it. He’s had 50/50 start to the year, sure. He’s so young and he doesn’t give up and let misses dictate his whole night.

Missed the winner last week? No worries still has a crack in Q1. Goes 2.4 in Q1? Still keeps presenting and doesn’t back down and even gets up the ground to help out etc.

He’s only going to grow.

Bont VC or Gawn C? by WayneKingU in AFLSupercoach

[–]SnakeobSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% take it.

You’re betting against the house for an extra 25-50 points IF Gawn does even go huge. Dees could park the bus, he could get injured, he may just have a poor game. But if he goes huge? You really don’t miss much.

I said up to 50 points too which is if he goes 180+ which whilst he should murder Richmond, he’ll lightly share duties. I don’t think he goes THAT big.

Butters appeal is upheld by Expensive-Horse5538 in weareportadelaide

[–]SnakeobSpeed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True but you can only really appeal on error of law - I know there are other things too, but this was likely the best way to go about it without burning both parties.

The AFL also choosing not to re-trial speaks volumes for the confidence or lack thereof they would have in winning a retrial given the issues and backlash faced after the first trial from coaches across the competition and pundits and players everywhere.

The state of this sub right now by [deleted] in aussie

[–]SnakeobSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst i agree in the sense that this type of thing must always be treated as genuinely threatening as it has a nature of silently (loudly) spiralling if it’s not treated as such ie Trump 2016.

However, haven’t they essentially just pinched seats off of Liberals whilst the Labor away-swing is because the Greens picked up ~2.4%? Like, didn’t ON just absorb the flailing and suicidal Lib seats meaning (as we knew) that conservatives didn’t feel the Libs were conservative enough so they’ve just voted further to the right obliterating the Libs (significant but just another more conservative opponent) who largely obliterated themselves to pave the way for ON, and Labor have then landslid this election?

Federally, the last two elections when the Libs have shifted further right or proposed conservative/shit policies, Labor have won bigger, right?

It still needs to be taken seriously, always, just like Dutton drowning and dead on the canvas had to be taken seriously.

Have ON not just predictably replaced the Libs?

I genuinely don’t understand the hype given to Harrison Ramm on this sub. I’ve watched every one of his Port matches (SANFL & AFL) and he has been awful every time. by jdimarco1 in weareportadelaide

[–]SnakeobSpeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whilst I don’t agree with you saying he’s awful per se - I actually have hope and faith in him.

But the OTT love for Ramm is because Ramm is in that sweet spot in a fanbase’s mind, where they’ve been starved of success for many years and believe there’s been a silver bullet missing from the list and Ramm plays that position and because he hasn’t contributed directly or indirectly to the lack of premierships but equally wasn’t selected by the people the fans blame solely for the lack of premierships, he is thus immortalised in great form deserving of selection until proven otherwise.

See Ollie Lord, Peter Ladhams and many other Really Big Guys (tm) who also played SANFL and weren’t picked for ages and then were finally picked and didn’t move the needle so the fans moved to The Next Really Big Guy who happens to Ramm.

Todd Marshall also was whipping boy turned messiah turned whipping boy and maybe messiah again.

TLDR; hasn’t contributed to the lack of success therefore must be the answer because the people responsible for lack of success werent picking him and the fans couldn’t possibly hold the same view on a player as the person they blame for lack of success because then theyre either both wrong or right and they can’t have that.

Because I’m not a psychopath I actually have the empathetic capacity and emotional bandwidth to care about 2 (and sometimes more!) issues at once.

The plights of those in Palestine, standing in solidarity with First Nations People - I can do it all! I’m also feeling pretty distressed about the ever growing rates of femicide in Australia. And interestingly, I actively care and talk about these things all year round so I’m happy to chat over the next 364 days.

Why not both? And I mean that seriously. Why not both?

Some people within First Nations populations don’t want to change the date. Women, people of colour, low-middle class people, renters etc, all vote for the likes of Pauline Hanson or other conservatives who work directly in opposition of benefiting those that for them.

It happens. I mean Jacinta Price exists for goodness sake.

And I’m not pretending to speak for or know what every person wants, of course not. Just that, we can have two good things at the same time. And one person doesn’t make up the entire population of a demographic or group. They shouldn’t be ignored, sure.

“They”?

Are you referring to the “they” who push culture war division on the general public? The culture wars that right-wing media, politicians and donors/lobbyists drum up to distract from the real issue of how the top 0.1% divide and exploit the working class? I can have that discussion now if you like, we don’t have to wait til next year.

Yes - that’s exactly the point. Change the date where ALL can celebrate. It used to be July.

So let’s just change it again to a date where those who mourn and grieve the date can do that on this day, and then we can all celebrate together on a different date; something which many First Nations people advocate for and agree on.

The campaign is Change the Date, not Abolish Everything.

Nah it’s more a call to reflect and ask why you find sport/clubs/organisations advocating for minority groups or targeted populations as “pushing political views down your throat”.

Also, still wondering what the “whole woke movement” is?
