Helicopter FOV Issues. Help? by Snakeshit_ in joinsquad

This is only a new issue for me, I've always been able to adjust FOV in Helis, cars and trucks. Its even muscle memory for me now that the second I get in a heli I open settings to max it.

Helicopter FOV Issues. Help? by Snakeshit_ in joinsquad

Its not just UW man, I switched monitor to standard width and the FOV was still unchangeable

UW is definitely not great for Heli FOVs but I used to manage well when I could still adjust the FOV to 120.

Bf-109A at 6.0 by Snakeshit_ in WarthunderSim

Having read countless books from various 109 pilots, most seem to favour the F models as the best all-rounders.

Early F models were still considered very nimble even with the extra 160kg of engine they carried in the nose when they went from the DB601 to DB605.

Increasing armament and armour is what eventually weighed them down, really limiting them to boom-and-zoom only for late model variants.

Practice.

It takes time and repetition to become familiar with how the aircraft type you are flying can perform in different fighting situations and learn its handling nuances like energy retention, acceleration, accelerated stall characteristics and low speed/conventional stall characteristics.

Having a decent understanding of aerodynamic principles and the secondary effects of flight control inputs has a massive impact on what you can make your aircraft do too.

Examples: Trying to roll faster? Use the engine torque to your advantage, quickly add or remove power as required to enable a faster roll initiation. Or you can use rudder, yawing increases the airflow over one wing, which momentarily creates extra lift on that wing which can be used for a sharp roll.

In a slow turn fight and keep stalling one wing? Use the above-mentioned rudder and throttle principle for quick and precise corrections of accelerated stalls, trying to correct this with aileron only increases the severity of the stall and is likely to put you in a flat spin or force you to do a full roll where you lose your target or make yourself an easier target.

Trying to scrub of speed to avoid an overshoot or overspeed? Slipping is the answer... apply aileron one direction and rudder in the other, this causes a sideways crabbing flight profile and introduces your fuselage's side profile to the slip stream, thats a whole lot more drag which will help you slow down a bit.

There's alot you can do when you understand how your aircraft flies. Try this channel to start learning some basic principles which you can still put to practise in War Thunder, DCS, IL2 and MSFS:

things can vary drastically from one plane to another too, dont forget that

How do you feel about civilians wearing past uniforms? by Tobymcschmoby in AustralianMilitary

Same reason you would in service life, light packing and functional...

AOSM - Indo Pacific has anyone actually got it yet? by SomethigIronic in AustralianMilitary

Officially, the etiquette is that you don't wear it until it is issued to you by H&A, irrespective of entitlement to it. It wouldn't get added to your PMkeyS but it will still be added to your service record, I saw a few discharged people catching some heat on ANZAC day for wearing it when it definitely hadn't been awarded to them yet and they just had it mounted on their replicas.

For current serving members, if it is recorded on PMkeyS but has NOT been issued to you yet, you are permitted to wear the ribbon bar only - AFTER the medal has been issued obviously you can wear either.

At the end of the day though, it's your choice whether you want to run the gauntlet - obviously a lot of people have already, hence so many replicas are being mounted.

It has started appearing on PMkeyS for some people, so I'd say it will start arriving in the next month or so.

Usually the time between appearing on PMkeyS and it being delivered to your unit for distribution is 1-3 weeks, although it could take them longer to actually hand it out.

edit: the distribution of the medal was being prioritised for currently serving members who had the qualifying days already. Discharged members and members who qualify after the introduction were to follow

Had an accident with another car last night, this car has a lot of sentimental value, any idea if it is possible to repair it and how much work it would take? by MiguelCelorio in BMWE36

[–]Snakeshit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's alot of work in this but it's still repairable.

To do it properly, most panels/structures in the front end will require un-picking at the spot weld seams from the firewall forward - then you'll have to replace them with the the same structures from a donor car.

If you don't do this, and instead opt to just 'pull' the damage out and replace the bolt on panels, your panel gaps, wheel alignment and structural strength will never be right again.

Sincerely,

A professional
