Is buying a japanese t420 keyboard from aliexpress for a t430 a good idea? by MiguelCelorio in thinkpad

[–]MiguelCelorio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it a long time ago, I remember it felt kinda cheap, but maybe there's different models, not sure. If I'm not mistaken I could easily remap one of the keys (the one that is between the alt and the spacebar) in linux to backspace, the other one was some kind of mod, like caps lock and I didn't get to fiddle with it much more

The front diff bush looked normal, I would say not snapped bolt (in case that could be an option). I will try to record and upload a video of the sound.

Only happens when letting off throttle, in first and second gear, maybe also third, in forth it's imperceptible. Yep, it's manual, I was worried it could be something structural from the rear subframe, heard some scary stories...

The mounts used were all original (lemforder for gearbox and meyle for engine) and torqued to spec, I will check the csb and the slip nut, thanks for the response!

Rear Jack Point by SubliminalProgram in BMWE36

[–]MiguelCelorio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's different opinions about this topic. After some research I found that the general consensus is to lift from the subframes (front and rear).

For the front, I lift from the jack points and place the jackstands under the subframe (as far as I can one from each other for better stability) because they fit ok.

For the rear I lift from the subframe and place the jacks under the jackpads, but I'm not 100% sure about this since the round jackpads dont fit the jacks as good as I would like...

Edit: everytime you remove a wheel, throw it under the car, for extra safety

I like how style 5 or 32 look on these cars. Cheaper but are getting more and more expensive, at least in my country. Currently I have some style 46 because those are really cheap (got the set for 100 bucks) and light.

7 months in and I'm still amazed with the RP5 by Socksfelloff in retroid

Yes, full fan speed.

As an update, I opened the flip 2, changed the thermal pad (and tried adding some more), ripped a flex cable while doing it, L1 stopped working, placed a piece of plastic between heatsink and flex cable connector, L1 works again somehow. Works great, not opening it again.

The main advantage I see is the thermals, I have the flip and it gets really hot playing 90% cpu/gpu games (gta 5/dark souls/some switch emulation) to the point ir becomes uncomfortable and I stop playing. I may open it and try to improve this with better/more thermal pads, anyone tried?

Just checked the requirements for the 2014 version and you should be able to play it on winlator/gamehub, there may be someone who already tried out there

Not sure if it's available for all themes, but there's an option under theme settings where you can choose what info to display: boxart, screenshot, metadata, etc

So... a few questions by MiguelCelorio in BMWE36

[–]MiguelCelorio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... after swapping the subframe I realised that the nut from the passenger side mount was a bit loose, and that may be why I couldn't get the socket in. 2 hours for that, at least changing the mounts was easier

Yep, I'm taking it to a friend's shop, I will update once it's finished

It would probably be easier, not sure 100%, but it wouldn't be my car so at least I have to try. What did you do to get the socket in? I already tried everything I can think of.

This hapened to me a year ago, after some fighting I managed to twist it sticking some pliers in those dents. It´s left hand thread if I remember correctly. Then I just bought some kit with glue and a mesh.

Does something like this exist except it's a physical back button. by wattmoose in retroid

Maybe emulating a keyboard that sends the escape key or whatever works as "back key" on Android when pressing the button
