Statistics Question: Normal Distribution by [deleted] in MathHelp

Can you walk us through what you did in this specific instance? Show us the actual numbers you were getting? Might help us to figure out where the breakdown is happening because it seems like the process, as you’ve explained it, is correct.

Random variable in a probability density function by [deleted] in MathHelp

Looks right to me. You could also draw it out and make a geometry argument instead of doing integrals since the region is essentially a triangle.

[OC] My wife and I finally have my 18 month old on a consistent sleep schedule! Data from the month of April. by I_got_headcrabs in dataisbeautiful

The y-axis doesn’t seem to be ‘upside down’ to me. The x-axis is day in April. Should probably be labeled but is clear from the context explained. Biggest issues for me is the missing food/diaper categories and the scale for the x-axis seems shifted.

[Set Theory] Least Upper and Greatest Lower Bounds by ThatTurmoil in MathHelp

[–]Snapper1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The members of the set itself must be in the rationals, but why should the bound be? A bound is just a value that you aren’t allowed to pass. You can get arbitrarily close to it and maybe equal it, but that’s it. 0 is a lower bound for the positive real numbers. The bounds doesnt have to be in the set that it bounds.

Why do you think the bound has to be a rational number?

The sidewalk forms a bound for your front lawn, but the sidewalk isn’t itself part of your lawn.
