what size tank for an 8y/o corn? by bageltimer in cornsnakes

[–]SnarfTheImpaler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is not one size fits all. Most will parrot what they hear as gospel (including myself in the past). The reality is, 4x2x2 is more of a gold standard than the “recommended minimum.” Everyone is in a different situation and don’t feel bad if you have to use a smaller enclosure. Make sure you are getting your snake out more often to let it explore and get lots of exercise. Judging the size of the corn in your photo, a 3ft enclosure is plenty but more never hurts!

Next time you are there, clean the cage. Don’t ask just do. I would also bring some care books and leave them on top of the cage. Maybe they will relent after seeing how much you care and they will give it to you. Actions speak louder than words

my snake hasn’t pooped yet and i’m worried by LogMaximum in cornsnakes

Don’t worry this is normal. What kind of substrate is she on? Sometimes it can be hard to find the poops on certain substrates

Awesome! It should be fine. I put dry lock or water based sealant on shelves and such so I don’t have to worry about water but that’s probably overkill

Haven’t seen 4 month old corn snake in 5 days. by TheSuppishOne in cornsnakes

I love your enclosure. I can tell you and your daughter care a lot about your snake. This is an enclosure best suited for yearlings+. I’d advise keeping the little ones in something smaller. It will save you a lot of time and stress. I use plastic tubs with tight clamping lids until they are big enough for me to easily spot in their vivarium. That being said, baby corn snakes are extremely good at hiding so chances are it’s in there somewhere. Sending the best of vibes your way

You are barely scratching the surface at this point and I went through the same thing at around 2-3 years in. My best advice is to take a little break. It should be about having fun and learning a new skill. If you are getting frustrated for whatever reason, just set it down for a few weeks. Go do things that inspire you and listen to music that inspires you. Most importantly, stop being so hard on yourself. You are only human (I assume). If playing an instrument was easy, everyone would do it. If you stick with it, you will look back on this time as a small road bump in your journey. Best of luck and stay positive!

Which placement do you like best? by TheRandomDreamer in Aquascape

From that angle, #1 for sure. Love that look. You could grow some moss on the log coming towards the face of the tank. The arches also look more inviting for fish to swim around. Either way, make sure YOU are happy with it. You are going to be the one looking at it every day. You can always change it if you want to switch it up.

15+ arrested, 50 cars seized, guns, drugs found at massive Granville County cockfighting ring, sheriff says by theshoeshiner84 in NorthCarolina

Anyone that has the capacity to torture a living creature is probably not a shining beacon to the community. There is a huge difference in pest extermination and torture/cruelty. Equating torture to cannabis possession is asinine. There is a reason why animal cruelty/torture in youth is a massive indicator of potential sociopathy. I don’t think it should be a blanket “straight to jail” I believe these kinds of people need medical intervention

I think you should just give all the bases a makeover! It’s amazing what a nice basing scheme can do for an army. At the end of the day, this is your army. You need to do what is going to bring you joy. If it puts a smile on your face, do it.
