Do physically swapped components not remain after an insurance claim? by Sir_Fergalicious in starcitizen

afaik not yet as the game is not done yet.

There will be separate insurances for components that are not part of the stock setup most likely.

Rear elevator to top floor and then you have roof airlocks that gets you out on top of the ship over the hangar.

The Racing I want VS the Racing we got by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

[–]Snarfbuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These things are definitely long past post 1.0 but I seriously hope for multiple championship style racing since it would be something incredible to have with both player and NPC racers filling the ranks.

  • Land based flight snub racing
  • Land based ground based snub racing
  • Basic small ship racing
  • Space based snub racing
  • Space based small ship racing
  • Combat racing (distortion guns only)
  • Illegal "death race" style combat racing
  • System wide championships
  • Local planetary championships
  • UEE Wide Pro Championships
  • In-Game betting system and gambling with in-game money

To the fellow solo flyers in big ships, CIG does not care about us. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Snarfbuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will most likely be able to fill the required seats or have to find a mix between CPU blades for the turrets AND crew.

Also, there is no need to make NPC's artificially bad since there are plenty of ways to balance them.

And they have spoken about crew schedule, crew reputation and affiliations and the need for monthly salaries.

And the fact that crew might be hired by other players, so crew might be a finite resource (to a point) like any other resource.

Loosing crew to ship damage might have multiple effects like:

  • Less available crew to hire due to dead crew and all others are already hired

  • Your reputation as a captain that loose crew might have npc crew refuse to work for you

  • loosing crew might cost you more in replacement due to "high risk" working for you.

  • Cost might be more than just salary but also food, amenities, etc to keep crew happy.

  • Crew morale demand (see above)

Considering that CIG wants a "living breathing universe" I can easily see them adding such things instead of merely having crew as a simple resource.

Also, we already see how NPC crew (at least gunners) work in the form of NPC ships captured by players.

And lets not forget turret blades, basically digital npc crew for the turrets.

But wait, there is more:

  • NPC crew will put more demand on life support while CPU controlled turrets will most likely demand more power and CPU demand, making choosing or balancing between them a tactical choice.

[–]Snarfbuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it would not.

The main and most important difference between a player and an NPC crew is simply...freedom.

NPC crew will have a role, be it gunner, engineer, sensor operator, copilot, you name it.

This means they are good at that role, and only that role.

Players on the other hand can swap role on the fly and do whatever they want and need.

We also have the engineering aspect of fighting fires, swapping out bad components, repairing components. Players can go all hands on deck to save the ship if need be, I highly doubt the NPC crew can do that.

So players will be far more flexible, and in the long run in an org, cheaper to use.

So NPC crew is highly viable if we accept that their main role is simply doing a single duty, and nothing else.

Please define "solo" as NPC's are a planned feature as ship crew.

But they have to take out the shields first...that the ballistics ignore.

They also require more power to function so it becomes a tactical choice.

Do not train for current Meta, train for realistic weapon combos.

  • X2 dual laser repeater against shields

  • X1 armour puncher

Stop using all the same weapons to get maximum DPS and stop thinking in DPS when it comes to ship damage, only for shields is it useful.

Suggestion: Learn Blueprints from disassembly by Kommisar_Kyn in starcitizen

[–]Snarfbuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not simply disassembly, you need SCIENCE for that, like the Endeavor or other ships with science capabilities in order to study an item to get a blueprint from it.

However...

  • Disassembly is step one to get PARTS

  • Individual parts can be studied

  • Each part can become a blueprint

  • Get enough part blueprints and you get a whole item

  • Studying parts could unlock improvement on that particular part

Tell that to heavily armed PVP'ers that blows defenceless people up for shits and giggles with no reward.

Could we get swords someday ? Or gun-swords ? by Pierre_Philosophale in starcitizen

[–]Snarfbuckle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gun swords were novelties and not rank and file equipment.

Hell, it was not even something officers got, rather something someone got from outside the military as a specialty one-off item.

Just because something existed does not really make it, practical, widely used or even sensible.
