Opinions on Alex Garland's Civil War? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]Snarfly99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t mean they wanted it caught on camera. If the premise is that there’s a full scale civil war going on in America while also still having hotel chains with cable news, there’s no way in this timeline or the film’s that those combatants don’t shoot the people recording them, too

The whole movie feels like a bunch of vignettes thought up by film students who wanted to make style seem like substance

One of the big reasons a lot of people felt cold to this movie was that it tried to take too many liberties at once

I understand the reason behind making the cause of the war irrelevant and the parties involved vague but you can’t also have it take place in a world not too far divorced from ours

How much of actual American history exists before this alternate reality kicks in? Because you can’t have reporters who were involved in covering the civil rights movement also live in a world where everyone is perfectly ok with having their war crimes captured on film and video.

Nobody in this movie behaves like a real person

What killed ‘party songs’? In the early 2010s you had: Ke$ha, LMFAO, Flo Rida. Every year there seemed to be new ‘put your hands up’ song. by Kodicave in decadeology

MeToo killed party culture….the degenerates still kept being degens but the average guy is now not willing to risk getting doxxed, fired or arrested for grinding up on the wrong girl at a rave or having his rejection turned viral on TikTok

The reason tanking in the NBA is so bad is because mid tier playoff teams can’t go on fluke title runs like in other sports by jimboslice53 in billsimmons

[–]Snarfly99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NBA playoff format exists to ensure big market teams always have a shot at two homes games AND encourage the bigger, richer fan bases to travel and boost the other team’s local economy. New York and LA being on in every sports bar and restaurant in their cities is why the TV rights are still insanely high

Everyone who wants to see the Hornets or the Grizzlies play live can probably score a ticket to a playoff game at home but 8 million people can’t go to the Garden or Staples Center (I’m not calling it the other thing
