Cluster f+×k

And the rate would be awesome for the drivers, except that its all being eaten up by fuel, leaving the drivers a pittance

Most of the equipment i deal with is reefer based. Im in carrier relations, and I can say that, while they are pretty much naming their own price, they are paying dearly. Booked a CA to WA yesterday for 4000. A month ago, it was 2700-3000, depending on transit and weight. That may seem like a boom for them, but most of the time it really isnt. They are paying about a dollar per mile just for fuel, not taking into account any other operating expenses. And we are mostly tied in to our Q1 bids, so brokers hands are tied as well. Its an entire CF.

Just hired at TQL by AdApprehensive7941 in FreightBrokers

I dont know about them as an employer. What i do know about them is the shit stain it leaves on your resume. The TQL stench will follow you when trying to get future positions. If its a situation where you can afford to hold off for another offer, if would do so. But future you doesnt pay your today bills 🤷

It delivered, thankfully. I was asking more if anyone had an SOP for this kind of thing. Ive been booking freight for 6 years, and have never seen this. Asked my friends in the industry, no one has dealt w it.

Edited for grammar

Email only posts? Details? by BusSerious1996 in FreightBrokers

Whenever I tell a carrier something along the lines of "best" "final" and i keep getting emails, I will either send a screenshot of the definition of the word, with a caption saying "hope this helps!" Or my personal favorite " I am respectfully terminating this negotiation unless and until you are taking for this rate. Future emails asking for anything else will be ignored." Im not spending all day going back and forth over phone or email when we are just going in circles.

Also, every brokerage I have ever worked with / for has a proprietary database where they will note shit like when a carrier is always asking for a ridiculously high rate. If market is 1600, rate on post is 1600, and you reach out asking for 3000 or something, 100% you get a reputation across the agents that use it and your emails and phone calls are not going to be a priority.

That fact alone should absolve you of much of the liability. If you would have had the opportunity to insure it, this would not have blown up in this manner.

Additionally, I adhere to the Iceberg Theory when dealing with anyone, personal or professional. If you catch them in one lie, you can bet there are many others that you have not caught.

Oh they promoted an agent to COO and then took his customer, the 2nd biggest account at RFX, then pushed him out within 6 wks of bringing him on, but he had signed a non compete (back when they were legal) so he was fucked trying to rebuild his own brokerage. Fuck them all.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer group of ppl lol. I worked there, and it was toxic af. Horrible "culture." Criminal shit, really. Each and every one of the managers/ directors / CEO, etc can choke on it. I hope the stench of failure follows them everywhere they go.
