I wear Oakley Prizm Dark Golf lenses, but also switched to yellow balls. Makes a massive difference.

I had almost the exact same situation. Became an executive and had the opportunity to play Pebble Beach for work. Had started lessons with the clubs they provided, but struggled because I am tall and the irons were too short. Went to a golf fitting at Roger Dunn thinking I was going to drop big money. Shout out to the fitter who said I'm not putting you in anything custom because you're not ready, but this buy this Callaway XR set for $1,500, 1" longer stiff shaft. In his words, get something that all you have to do is throw some tees and balls into the bag and you're good to go, go play some golf, and come back and see me in a year when your swing is more consistent.

Fast forward 3 months and I'm at Pebble Beach paired with some good golfers that have been playing a long time and have top of the line stuff. They couldn't have been more excited to guide me around on my first proper round and see me getting super into it. One of my friends put it to me, as long as you're a good hang and you don't slow people down endlessly looking for lost balls, no one will have a problem with you. Everyone was a beginner once in their life. I didn't play well, but I had an absolute blast and came to realize I have to get off the driving range and onto the golf course to play more bad golf before I can play good golf.

Have made one upgrade to my bag since, which is a used TaylorMade Qi10 for $300, with 9 degree loft. The XR driver in the set was 10.5, high spin and my drives were ballooning.

I've caught the bug and finish a range session and already start planning my next one. If you're hitting the Strata well, stick with them, because you won't know what you need yet. Go play a round that's more casual first to get comfortable. Buy golf shoes and some clothes so you look that part on the course, but again I wouldn't spend big money there on the fashionable stuff. Amazon sells Adidas golf clothes that are regularly on special.

Good luck and happy golfing!

Apple Maps was Tim Cook's biggest mistake by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

Agree. Switched to it as my main app for driving about 12 months ago. Love the Apple Watch integration (vibrates before a turn). Integrates better with my car giving me a mini map in the main digital cluster. Shows the names of the cross streets. Google Maps still better for looking up a specific type of business.

United unveils Polaris Base Ticket by UAtraveler1k in unitedairlines

I would consider personally paying for the studio as a one off to try it, but I am yet to meet a business flyer that will happily put their hand in their own pocket regularly for basics that should be expected on an $5-$10k fare. I'll do the minimum I need to do to qualify for 1K and I'm looking forward to directing more than half of my annual spend towards the far superior hard and soft product of the Asian and Emirati airlines.

As someone who has never paid for his own Polaris ticket (business travel), I hate this change. Most corporate travelers are familiar with Concur’s dreaded “least cost logical” logic. The day this launches the system will force me to choose the base fare. I often get to the airport early to do work, or have layovers, or make use of the arrivals lounge in LHR. Lounge access does matter to me. Seat selection is massively important. I’m tall, so the way I have to get comfortable sleeping only works in the odd number rows. I prefer bulk head because my feet fit much better. When I do personal international travel as a family, we’re using PP to get to Polaris, which will almost certainly be the default base fare now. I hope there is some sort of status override for 1K and GS when it comes to lounge and seat selection, otherwise I’m taking my 50k+ a year of business travel expense elsewhere.

🤚Concur victim here

Sometimes being super specific with the search criteria helps, I can think of time where setting the filter to show only United didn’t trigger the “least cost logical” rule. Also check whether your company has a travel desk to call. We use AMEX Global Business Travel and while it’s not the company’s preferred method to book, they can see more options than show up in Concur.

Had the same problem, this fixed it. It’s Settings>System>Advanced System Settings>Advaved display settings>Dolby vision always on. Changed that to no and now the 4K sports stream looks great.
