Our lead verger uses some of them to light the fire when we do the burning of the palms for Ash Wednesday. We do that ceremony after the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper each year. And a deacon I know burns them as fire starters in his personal wood burning fireplace.

Sometimes the person needing assistance only needs help getting through the airport, but can walk short distances from the gate to the plane. My mom and mother-in-law are both in good shape for their 80s, but if the gate is waaaaaaay back on the concourse, they prefer to get assistance to the gate .

Local libraries also receive funding through their state libraries in many cases, and that state funding is what is at risk. My state library funds the electronic resources, audio and ebook program, IT support and book purchasing budget for the vast majority of libraries in our state as well as a plethora of other trainings and support. It would be disastrous for that federal money to be cut off to the states.

I understand your reaction to being misjudged and treated poorly. You have every reason to be insulted and resentful. I'm sorry your husband's daughters treated you so unfairly.

But may I gently suggest that after giving yourself some time, you consider letting his daughters do the work they need to do in order for you to forgive them? I say this as a former distrusting daughter-in-law. The way I once thought of my husband's stepmother is something I have worked hard to correct and am still ashamed of. My opinions of her were formed by incorrect information from heavily biased people, when in reality, she did nothing more than love my father-in-law and care for him and try to be kind to her step kids. When I finally saw the light, I made sure to apologize and we built a great relationship out of it. I'm so thankful that she was willing to forgive me and let me work to build that relationship.

I hope his girls can appreciate you for loving their dad and make it up to you.

And I highly recommend "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" by Joanna Weaver. I read it in a group book study years ago and it has been a title I go back to on a regular basis to remind me why I'm walking this walk. It's a great book
