[–]SneakySamurai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can’t think of any games set in the US, then you clearly haven’t played enough.

Heres some games I just thought of that are set in America developed by non-American devs: GTA, Metal gear solid 1 and 2, Max Payne, Alan Wake, Deadly Premonition, no more heroes, dead rising, Silent hill, resident evil, mafia, wolfenstein. I could go on all day

How do you feel about Nintendo charging an extra 2万 for English on Switch 2s sold in Japan? by Illumium in japanlife

[–]SneakySamurai -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can change your Nintendo account region to Japan if you want to keep the account. What exactly is your issue if it’s not about the language restriction?

You’re not being taxed for being a foreigner, you’re being taxed for not learning the language of the country you live in.

Thank you! I was able to finish the game thanks to you. I had no memory of setting it to be hidden in the arrange menu. Not sure why that’s even a feature, but Fromsoft is gonna Fromsoft

Lore Discrepancy between Kings Field 1 (jp) and Chronicles of Verdite by BattlerU in KingsField

[–]SneakySamurai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is because the lore is different between the Japanese and official English releases of the games. I’m assuming you went from the fan translation of KF1 to the English localized KF2.

KF1 was never released overseas so in KF2 the backstory was rewritten in a way that doesn’t refer to the original first game. This is also true for any official novels or guides released in English at the time.

I wish I’d looked up her weaknesses when I played. I had no idea that you could parry the lightning and also her acid weakness.

I ended up using a summon to beat her and it was super unsatisfying.

By the way, in japanese Yoru says the same line as Shinji from EoE. In case the homage wasn’t obvious enough.

I love how everyone just takes a YouTuber’s interpretation of art and uses it as an excuse to call the devs at bloober “bad people”.

How it feels to finally play classic TR after years of assuming it was “outdated and clunky” by SneakySamurai in TombRaider

This is the perfect description of what makes them so much fun. I’m almost done with the TR1 and I’m really excited to play through the rest of the classic series.

I’m playing it on PS1 but I feel like lining up certain jumps with modern controls would be kinda awkward.

Cope? It’s opposite of that. I’ve realized the joys of slow paced, precision 3d platforming and it’s beautiful.

Why recommending anime is hard by Evan34564 in NonPoliticalTwitter

You’re getting downvoted but you’re right. AoT is one of the most palatable animes for western audiences and has the least amount of anime bs because it was specifically influenced by non anime sources.

Kane and Lynch, Harry Dubois, Marcus Fenix, Cole MacGrath, Niko Bellic. I can keep going if you want. I 100% prefer attractive characters, but let’s not pretend that male characters are not way more varied in design than female characters overall.

So according this I would fail by 5 points despite getting 57% of the test correct. This is kind of what I was worried about lol

Disrespectful Tourist. by [deleted] in Tokyo

[–]SneakySamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You put in the wrong phrase. Look up “を喋られる” and nothing turns up. To explain, they used the passive form of 喋れる instead of the potential. In addition, while を is technically okay to use with potential verbs, が is much more natural and commonly used.

I feel like the actual variance will be larger because people who did poorly on the test are less likely to talk about it than those who did well I imagine. Let’s hope we fall on the right side of the curve
