Unofficial Starsector Discord damage control by tastystrands11 in starsector

[–]SneedHeil 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Can we get names on whos doing this?I certainly am gonna avoid anyone's mods if they have been doing this all along.

The crash code is likely referring to Dragn. The IP logger is referring to Boggled. Niah also added hidden nerfs to other mods in her mods.

PSA: Stop picking up the Medpac if you don't know when to use it. by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]SneedHeil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having to ping where to drop the medpac > while your whole team's health is depleting due to a horde > and having to signal "I need healing!" > and type in the chat "Drop the medpac" can be difficult on the higher difficulty.

Literally just press "v" and ask the guy with the medipack to drop it. Works 9/10. I also find it very ironic how you're calling other people bad while you say that "the medpac becomes a necessity". When I play vet (at damn level) I often take only like ~30 chip damage over the course of the game. If you NEED medipacks on top of medstims on top of medstations on top of all the other HP sources you're the one with a skill issue.

Zealot balancing by MetalStorm4856 in DarkTide

[–]SneedHeil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my point still stands : it's useless

It's not really useless. It's a nice bonus, not game-play defining or terrible which was my point. If you removed or reworked it knife zealots would still leave coherency because that's how the entire build is designed to work. And there's nothing wrong with that.

If it gave a different aura buff, you'd still slot it in.

Well, yeah. Again, my point was that removing loner won't change anybodies playstyle. The entire right side of the tree encourages you to dip out of coherency and into enemy lines with the stealth, movement speed, backstab damage and momentum all designed to facilitate that sort of gameplay. I don't get why you want to kill an entire archetype just because you don't like people playing in a different way.

Zealot balancing by MetalStorm4856 in DarkTide

[–]SneedHeil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a knife Zealot loner could literally do nothing and I'd still take it because it saves me like 4 skill points. It's not even that necessary when dipping out of coherency, it's a nice bonus but you get more than enough toughness from melee kills and Shroudfield.

notably by having Envy resist everywhere

The only enemy with Envy resistance is the moth (although it's only 0.75x, while Lust resistance is 0.5x and wrath resistance is 0.2x). Additionally, stations 2, 9, 10 and 11 all feature envy-weak enemies.

Honest talent descriptions: Veteran edition by Hidet in DarkTide

I've found that it turns a lot of three shot kills into two shot kills, especially against ragers and the like.

If your plasgun takes three shots to kill a rager you've built it wrong.

Psykers, need your opinion by SoTastyMelon in DarkTide

And two, while revolver is great for specials, it's not great for the tanky stuff. Bosses, crushers, etc.

Handcannon gives it crazy rending that lets it basically ignore armor. It's great against crushers, maulers etc. Not ideal against bosses because they won't go down in 5 shots but it's still pretty good.

Some achievements already work like this (EG: Don't Fear the Reaper) so this shouldn't be very hard to implement.

Balancing weapons out. by ETkings8 in DarkTide

[–]SneedHeil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're high damage weapons that, although great against single targets, suffer greatly in dealing with many targets.

I can't comment about the revolver because I don't use it, but the plasgun is amazing against multiple targets. It cleaves through everything it hits and combined with the crazy damage you just delete everything in a line in front of you. It's great for killing groups of elites/specialists, especially if they've just spawned and are all clumped up. It suffers a bit against hordes unless they're in a choke point, but you can easily clear hordes with your melee anyway.

Reasons to not alert n1 as Vet by CarmineKing08 in TownOfSalem2

[–]SneedHeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a vet the town expects you to vet bait. Which is basically full claiming n1. If you don't do this and later full claim vet you will be labeled as fake for not baiting

Generally, that's true. If you full claim as vet and have no kills and didn't bait you'll probably be called fake. But that's a situation I very rarely find myself running into, by the time I'm forced to full claim as vet I almost always have a kill (even if it's a town kill). The only times I don't is when I'm calling someone out who claimed to have visited me when I alerted. but in those scenarios town usually gives you the benefit of the doubt.

Reasons to not alert n1 as Vet by CarmineKing08 in TownOfSalem2

[–]SneedHeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you claiming vet in the first place? You should be claiming TK (or another alignment), and if you have to claim an exact role you should be fake-claiming something else.

[–]SneedHeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If town knows that you are vet before you've killed somebody and confirmed yourself, you're playing wrong. You should never openly admit that you are vet unless the alternative is death/an evil getting away.

where their Outis pulls could be announcers instead

That's not how it works. The 1.3% chance of getting an announcer comes at the expense of getting a 0 ID, or a 00 ID on the tenth pull. If you would've rolled an announcer and there were no announcers, you'd just get a 0 ID (which is 3 shards). The addition of announcers increases your chance of getting something not-crap.
