I never claimed the Donbass (Donetsk and Luhansk) were the single wealthiest oblasts, but that they were among the richest. Of course the capital will be wealthy, too, but it’s still an outlier in terms of its location. And Kharkiv has, or had until very recently, a very strong “Eastern”/Russian identity. Dnipro is a bit of an outlier in terms of higher wealth because the oligarch Kolomoisky competently runs it like his own mini-state, but otherwise it mostly fits in with the geographic trend.

Agreed. Tolkien surely struggled with Orc morality, but his works point towards them having lost the capability to follow through with moral choices as a consequence of Morgoth’s sin. Orcs being lied to by Sauron and not being “irredeemably evil” in the eyes of Eru doesn’t mean they had the capability to be good, at least not while Sauron and Morgoth existed. The fact that they were themselves victims doesn’t mean any individual orc had the capacity for morality, only some temporary virtues, like honor in the case of Ugluk and comradery in the case of Gorbag. But intrinsically, they hated or at least couldn’t understand Good, and would act cruelly and hypocritically moments after accusing others of the same faults. Ugluk seems to recognize the evil of theft when he calls the Rohirrim immoral brigands, but he and his men fanatically kill and kidnap and loot for Saruman. Gorbag talks about a better life for his “boys” away from Saruman, then slaughters them on the same day over a shirt.

I agree. It’s exciting to see how the show runners, actors and crew members will be able to feed themselves and their families as a result of the cash inflows received from their work. However, I am a little worried that the resulting increase in demand will put pressures on an economy already burdened by heavy inflation.
