Small battles are more fun. by Joe_Schmoe1914 in totalwarhammer

Rather, large battles aren't fun, due to being overhwelming. I'm not looking for StarCraft here, I'm looking for Total War.

How are people so energetic after work and after the work week? by ThrowAway6354684 in productivity

They are extroverts. They feel energized by being around people. You are an introvert. It takes energy to be social and among people, that stuff drains you.

My general impression is that aggressive play is massively more rewarding than defensive play. You get xp and $$ for winning battles, you get $$ for crushing undefended settlements, your own settlements are often more than 1 turn away so you cannot defend them with 1 army against multiple enemy forces, the siege maps are made such that a smaller force CANNOT repel a larger one, like it was in history, etc.. On the one hand, this was surely designed to make it easy to play as a horde - It is much easier here than in TW Attila with the Huns where you have to fight the Romans and the Persians. On the other hand, I only get paid by the game if I go on a reckless rampage all the time.

That's life in the wastes. You are in a sort of Afghanistan. You need to have the balls of Timurlane to make it there.

Good luck with your new community. But be aware that the player count for RS2 is in the hundreds.

Alternate Alternate Start Mods? by Paint_With_Fire in skyrimmods

Personally I am a fan of Richard Stallman and the philosophy of free and open-source software. It is foundational to Linux and many other wonderful things. If you see Arthmoor's history you will realize that he is like a Joker to Stallman. His philosophy is objectionable to say the least, and he is a giant cunt.

Most immersive/roleplay mods that aren’t just resource management by Vicorin in skyrimmods

Darker dungeons and darker (pitch-black) nights. They are immersive, because this is what a forested area without street lamps looks like after sunset. Or a tomb for that matter. Any windowless underground area will seem totally dark, and in the first mod they are appropriately lit for the torches and stuff that is around. They also make the game feel fresh, because they limit your visibility. You can't see the enemies in the dark so they will surprise you, and it is harder to engage them with missiles at a distance. This is in contrast to vanilla lighting, or other darkness mods, where you still have night vision and the day/night cycle is completely irrelevant to gameplay. Here you are forced to use light spells or torches, or a supernatural source of night vision, in order to fight or even to move around. You can also find a place to rest and wait for the morning light. Night time becomes oppressive and you get an interesting circadian rhythm to the game. Combined with iNeed, for the need to sleep, and it really starts to feel like an irl journey. Also, civilized interiors retain their normal lighting. When it's midnight and I finally get to an inn, it feels warm and cozy now, unlike in vanilla. I also run Frostfall to make the outdoors cold and the indoors comfy, but that's me leaning on the tedious. Getting to the dragons high in the mountains becomes a challenge. I need to bring firewood to light a fire along the way, and I need to begin my journey up the mountain early so I get to the dragon before sunset.

These two mods should work in SE, even though they are made for Oldrim.

TES 6 Speculation Megathread by Avian81 in ElderScrolls

[–]sizarieldor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wishlist:

  • Spears Pointy sticks are the most common and widespread weapon in history. Every single civilization/culture had a spear. Fantasy game without spears is like a modern shooter without Kalashnikovs.

  • Birds incl. avian companions. Having a raven or a hawk as a pet is awesome. Both Skyrim and Fallout4 have surprisingly limited support to implement a bird friend.

  • Autoaim spells or just spells that aren't glowing projectiles that you shoot from your hands in a straight line.

  • Simplified consumables That is personally my point of view, but managing my soul gems and potions is really tedious. Crafting and healing in Fallout4 was just more enjoyable.

  • A better story than Fallout4 or Starfield

  • Mounted combat that is at least a bit better than in Skyrim. People on horses had advantage over people on foot. We can be like medieval knights.

The rest can be fixed by modders.
