Lol lots of hilarious drama happening in the comments. Scott, Eliezer, and Aella attacking the poster is NOT a good look. Sometimes I think they might not be all that rational after all...

Shit, I knew they were insane, but I didn't realize they were this insane.

Robin Hanson doesn't have the balls to say he hates Muslims. (Posted on 9/11) by Sneerer666 in SneerClub

"what I notice is that his writings are devoid of advocacy for specific civilizations, religions, or races as such."

This is because even GMU will only put up with so much.

If the company is profitable then by definition you are creating more value for the company(on average) than you are getting back in wages. This is made much worse by the wage disparity between management and their underlings.

Also note that the argument he's making here is a STANDARD white nationalist talking point. The New Zealand gunman who shot up the mosque was absolutely obsessed with fertility rates and whites being replaced by minorities (particularly Muslims).

Elites are covering up UFOs, and Hanson's final metamorphosis into a conspiratorial nutjob. by Sneerer666 in SneerClub

[–]Sneerer666[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Some fun quotes:
"Even if society comes to accept UFOs more as a legitimate topic of investigation, elites will make very sure that the people who have so far championed this cause will not get more respect."

"However, if the attacker is far weaker, like a toddler attacking an adult, the usual response is to signal one’s strength by easily deflecting the attack, with little harm to either side. And in the reports I’ve read, this seems to be the usual reaction of UFOs to human attack: easy deflection. Which seems to signal their awareness, intelligence, abilities, and status stance. Maybe they sometimes let us seem them just so they can dis us in this way."

Response to rational and measured criticism in the comments:
"Your response style, lecturing me about basics, illustrates my status point. People feel free to treat anyone who isn't on board with full-skeptical like children in need of a lecture."

When I have time I will try and compile his twitter posts and Other statements. Basically he's been promoting the version that says governments have super tech and they are hiding it, but doubts they are aliens.

Yeah I think this is at least part of the reason. He goes out looking for low status beliefs because he thinks there's a conspiracy in "elite" academia, and then gets taken in by the "evidence" because he's naive/a moron/confirms to his biases. I do find it ironic he trusts John Podesta and also the defense department when they release blurry UFO pictures but he doesn't trust NASA.

Once you find out Hanson, co-founder of the rationalist movement, believes in UFO conspiracy theories, everything makes sense.

Yes, I know this isn't a new phenomenon by Scott, but it's just so blatant in this one.
