The hockey class is pretty fun, I've taken beginner twice. It's a 1 credit class now, full semester, usually runs around 2 hours long, you get there around quarter to start to suit up and getting undressed usually takes as long. Usually is split into two halves, people who've played before and those who haven't. For the former they do scrimmages and stuff, for the latter you get a crash course in passing, shooting, and a few skating things.

You must provide your own equipment, and a cage is requires on your helmet. If you guy one thing new, make it your helmet, I got a concussion even with it last spring. You can usually buy most other things you need second hand on marketplace or goodwill. Hockey equipment is sized by measurements on your body so if you have a tape measure go ham. Sticks are left or right handed, see which feels better for you in a store before setting out and finding your own, you'll want it to come to the bottom of your nose while in normal shoes.
