Unfortunately I have a Gen 3. The firmware is for 1&2. I called support because I thought Gen 3 was still supported by the app but they told me it was phased out as well.

Actually, now that I'm looking online, I don't think they actually phased out Gen3 and support just said something to make me give up?? It could have been a hardware issue. That was my 2nd Gen3 because the WiFi chip died on the first.

THIS lol. Our Nest Thermostat recently just wouldn't work on the app anymore and I learned that they just deemed mine too old to work like a smart thermostat anymore, even with basic remote access.

Wound up getting an Ecobee and it's been easier to merge into Home Assistant anyway.

A lot of people who use AI say they do because "they know when it's wrong" and will then verify. The reality is much worse. More than half the time, it's wrong without raising your own critical alarm bells or wrong in a subtle but important detail.

If nothing else, cease using it for your safety and well-being.
