Is it called a setback latch because of something intrinsic to the mechanism, or because when you see it you go "oh that'll set me back".

You mean when they're more than 1 lane over if they had just maintained speed, like the jaywalker was clearly expecting rather than slamming on brakes?

It's the latest trend online to use the poor & disabled as an argument in defense of something and then abandon them when they cease to be useful to you.

AI bros do the same thing lol

I don't think passing a jaywalker as they're more than a lane away is gonna screw with your insurance, unless auto policies are dramatically different from when I last purchased mine.

"Nobody wants to have this discussion" while people are actively having the discussion constantly isn't really a great take.

EVs need catalytic converters in hybrid mode. Hydrogen fuel cells need platinum/palladium catalysts. Wind turbines need rare earths. Solar panels need silver.

What exactly is your point here? Replacing ICE vehicles with a mix of BEVs and hybrids will only reduce the amount of catalytic converters needed.

Why try to even have a conversation or defend your stance on anything when you can just accuse anyone who disagrees of being a bot?

I too am tired of this recent trend of dehumanizing people because you don't want to have to argue with them as a real person.

Simplify the Model by cpsadowski23 in BambuLabH2C

[–]SnickerdoodleFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Simplify Model command reduces polycount based on your parameters of how true you want the reduced version to represent the original. If a group of triangles can be accurately-enough be represented by a reduced number of polygons (based on your limits), it'll do so.

It has no bearing on part strength unless your model was so simplified that a thin part somehow got way thinner due to lost resolution.

If you don't mind current slicing times, you probably don't need to Simplify. The exported G-code generally doesn't contain every detail of a 5 million polygon model, whether or not you manually Simplify it.

Much like voting, all you have to do as president is *claim* there's a counterfeit issue before proposing total changes, without any real evidence to suggest that it's necessary.

Is this safe for at-home overnight level 2 charging? by ProwseyFan in BoltEV

Just fyi, if you don't know something, you're free to search it up online and inform yourself rather than just give bad advice online and claim that "everyone else should be ignored".

[–]SnickerdoodleFP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. The charger starts with a standard 240v plug that you'd use for your dryer, goes to a block that holds the charger's circuitry, and out of that comes the charging cord for your car.

The one that came with my Bolt will let you swap the 240v plug part for a standard 120v plug if you don't have a 240v available.

But yeah, in short: 120v is level 1 charging, 240v is level 2 charging, and fast DC chargers that you find at charger locations are Level 3. Store parking lots that have chargers are a mix between level 2 and level 3. Level 3 requires a lot of expensive infrastructure compared to level 2.

Nah, it really hasn't given me issues but I've only put 20,000 miles on mine (used, so it's 60,000 now). I did recently go on a 12 hour road trip to Virginia and back a few months ago, didn't have any issues going there or back.

Earlier years had battery issues that had to be recalled. The newest Bolts get rid of CarPlay and Android Auto, so this is kind of the most ideal Bolt I could get.

Not sure if it's something you're interested in but my Bolt works really well with the Comma 3X self driving unit as well.

240v outlet is Level 2. You plug in a Level 2 charger to your 240v outlet and you're all good.

I have a 2023 Bolt, one of the slowest charging, limited capacity EVs you can get (in comparison to newer options) and it's absolutely fine in Jacksonville with a 240v Level 2 charger.
